West Nile Virus season is just starting with this year's first four confirmed equine cases in California. Two of the four West Nile positive horses were here in Riverside County. Please make sure your horses are vaccinated. The CDFA has a great site for tracking West Nile Virus hot spots: http://westnile.ca.gov

My little brother & I kicking it with our pony "Grandpa". They told us he was 3 when we bought him. They left off a zero. Haha.

"Faith" was born on Good Friday. She kept chewing on my beard. Haha. Never had that happen before.

a client sent me this video of the sick newborn mini donkey I treated last December - he's doing laps now and attacking the dogs :-)

Happy New Year! This was one of the highlights of my 2014. On the left: A one day old mini donkey rejected by his mother and in critical condition. On the right: 10 days later - he's alive and well - after IV fluids, plasma, and 5 days with a feeding tube. :-)

'tis the season for equine pediatrics!

Recent Equine Dental Case: This rescue horse presented with a chronic wound on the cheek (see small corner pic). Closer inspection revealed that the wound originated from inside of the mouth (see white arrow) and was produced by a large, sharp hook on his first cheek tooth (see yellow arrow). We rounded off the hook and he's healing well :-)
