Are you celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day today? Are you a parent, grandparent, or other caregiver wondering what to do for Indigenous Peoples’ Day this year while you and your family are home? We have two suggestions: Read an Indigenous writer. For high-school students, and perhaps you, try "An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States for Young People", adapted from Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz’s more academic "An Indigenous People’s History of the United States." Th...e young people’s edition has discussion questions at the back that families or classmates can discuss together. You can get it from Amazon at the link below. Pick up a few copies of "Colorful Critters of Del Norte County (a DNACA fundraiser) Not only can adults and children have fun coloring in this book filled with artwork of animals from our area, but it contains the animal names in English, Yurok, and Tolowa languages, with information about each animal featured in the book. Artwork by Rosemary Garcia, text by Amy Baird, native animal names by Victoria Carlson and Josh Norris, and the Tolowa Dee-Ni Nation. The books are available at Del Norte Office Supply, and the DNACA office. What are YOU doing today? #DNACA #localart #color #celebrate #history
