One of the cornerstones of a Montessori education is the mixed age group classrooms. Children adapt and respond so beautifully to having an older child help them, rather than always hearing from adults. Here Anaya (4) assists Ari (3) with her zipper.

The binomial cube is a sensorial work that is composed of 8 wooden blocks which fit together in a binomial pattern, representing the cube of two numbers, (a + b), or tens plus units. In our primary classroom (ages 2 1/2 to 5), the children discover this 3D puzzle and get introduced to algebraic concepts.

Picture day is Thursday! Remember to turn your form in by Wednesday to the office. Photos will start in Bambino at 8:00.

Meanwhile, a three-year study of preschool students in Hartford, Connecticut, found that public Montessori schools helped close the achievement gap between higher- and lower-income students, and that students in Montessori schools performed better overall academically."
