My heart was racing, knowing that it in a moment I'd be able to see you. The one. My father. This is my dad. . . . .... . . . . For the past 39 years, I've had front row seats and hands on learning from this incredible man. As we celebrate fathers today, I can't help but reflect on all of the lessons that he has taught me over the years. As we have thrived, survived and persevered through the different chapters of our life, I've seen my dad as a masterful professor in teaching me how to be a father through many different life stages. As a kid As a teenager Through college Through family stages Through my dating, engagement & marriage Being a dad Seeing him as a grandfather Seeing him, taking care of my mom in her last days Seeing him celebrate mom's life Cooking, Gardening, Loving, Caring, Leading Doing what's right, not what's popular Critical Thinking and taking a stand Doing whatever it takes to be a provider Patience Taking Responsibility Taking Initiative Being Proactive And much more... I'm not perfect. He's not perfect. And that's ok. For all of these years, now more than ever, he is the most constant man in my life. He is my confidant. He is my mentor. I go to him for guidance, for strength, a source of reason, understanding and encouragement. I love you dad. Thank you for coaching me, by example, on what being a father is and how we can be much better. (Yesterday) You have many roles in our inner circle, but your role of MOTHER, over the past 7+ years has been the one I cherish the most. I'm blessed to have a front row seat to watch you and be along side you for this parenting journey. There are things that you do, big and small, as a mother that amaze me and I can't help but be more appreciative of you, every day. Motherhood is by no means easy, but you shine as a mother effortlessly. The thing that I am so excited about though is, watching you, as you masterfully teach our daughters to LOVE GOD, become ladies, put family first, be independent, be their own boss and love each other as sister.
