The governor and CDPH has just announced new guidelines for youth sports reopening. This is very good news for our program. Once our county goes below 14 new cases/100k residents we can resume competitions. For reference, our county is currently at 24, and trending downward. All of our leagues are currently open for registration. Spring is just around the corner and it’s finally time to play ball! https://www.cdph.ca.gov//outdoor-indoor-recreational-sport

We’re sad to learn of the passing of one of our longtime volunteer umpires, Lauren Wakeling. Lauren was a dedicated volunteer who always brought a good demeanor to the field. Whenever there was a softball game that needed to be officiated, she was there. She will be missed.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the leader of our neighboring district, and section partner, CA21 District Administrator Gary Mendoza. Mr. Mendoza was a Little League volunteer for over 40 years, including having been selected as a Little League World Series umpire. #littleleague #littleleaguefamily #littleleagueworldseries

Yesterday afternoon, after our original post, the County of San Bernardino announced that the State of California has rescinded their consent for youth sports to reopen at this time. Our district will meet soon to discuss what this means for the program moving forward. I anticipate that our planning for late summer activities will not be able to continue. That being said, we will continue to try to plan for our program to continue this fall. I’d like to address some concerns ...that you may have on reopening. COVID-19 has changed the entire world, and our program and our game will have to change as well. Unfortunately, we will be living with COVID-19 and its affects well into 2021. With that reality, we have a choice: to accept no risk, and cancel our program or to choose to work to reduce our risk as much as possible, and try to move forward with providing our service to the youth of our community. We have chosen to move forward-- slowly and methodically. As I have stated before, we will not reopen until the public health officials that govern us give approval. We have been working diligently on creating our mitigation plan, and we are having ongoing conversations with the powers that be. We have modeled our plan using the CDC, Little League International, State and Local guidelines. The plan was submitted to the City and County of San Bernardino officials, and we have received positive feedback on our initial mitigation plan, and are working to update and improve the plan as we learn more. I have been in contact with Little League Administrators from across the country, as well as the Western Region HQ. What I have learned is that among the leagues that are playing, their mitigation plans are working. Even though there have been isolated infections, the playing fields have not turned into super spreader locations. It gives me confidence that when we are allowed to do so, we can do so safely, if everyone follows the protocols. Our number one concern will always be the health and well-being of our players, our volunteers, and their families. We will post our mitigation plan in the coming days. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me. As always, I look forward to seeing you all at the ball fields in the future. I hope our message finds you and your family safe and healthy. Allen Pryor District Administrator California District 43 Little League

We'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to fill out our survey. We're still accepting responses through this weekend. The early responses are overwhelmingly clear, you want your children to be able to play. We intend to do everything possible to make that happen. It won't be perfect, and it will be different than any other season that we have ever had. We appreciate your patience while our volunteers work out the details. We will be taking your responses into consider...ation for our mitigation plan. We hope to have that put together and distributed out for everyone to review, and have an opportunity to have input on, in the first week of June. We want you to feel comfortable that we are doing everything we can to keep your children safe, and continue to provide them the amazing experience that youth baseball and softball provides. We will presenting our mitigation plan to the appropriate City and County officials once completed for their approval. See more

Happy Mother’s Day

CA District 43 Little League 23.06.2020

As most of you have heard already, Little League International has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 World Series and Regional tournaments for all divisions of play. The member leagues of California District 43 met on a conference call last Thursday evening to discuss our plans for the remainder of this season. We have collectively decided to continue to wait to hold a 2020 regular season. That being said, we will continue to observe the Stay at Home order until ...our state and local governments have lifted it. At this time, no indication from local officials has been given that the order will be lifted in the immediate future. While we had hoped to resume play after May 11, that does not seem like a feasible plan at this time. We are currently preparing a survey for all of our District 43 families to gauge your opinions and concerns. The information will help us make informed decisions on your behalf. That survey will be sent out to your families by your league on May 18, and we will also be posting a link on our social media and website. Additionally, District Administrators from Southern California are discussing the viability of holding a State tournament at some point in 2020, although no decision has been made at this time. Our entire Little League family is committed to providing this program for the children of our community this summer. However, as always, the safety of your children is our primary concern. On behalf of myself and my district staff, I wish you all good health, and I look forward to seeing you at the ball field in the future. Allen Pryor District Administrator California District 43
