DISCOVERY INSTITUTE FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

Dear Colleagues: It is my pleasure to invite you to join us for an exciting eco-vacation this winter break on beautiful Catalina Island. This 4-day field oriented excursion will take place at the USC Marine Science Center near Two Harbors, Jan 9-12, 2015. Content will cover natural history of Catalina’s fascinating terrestrial and marine life, human impacts, and ecosystem preservation strategies. Hands-on activities involve marine bio labs, nature hikes, kayaking, and dail...y snorkeling (wetsuits and dive gear provided). Science teachers will leave with lots of activities and information they can use in their classrooms (but you don’t have to be a teacher). All past attendees are welcome. We are limited to 16 participants and four students will be attending on scholarships.
