The mountain sat upon the plain In his eternal chair, His observation omnifold,... His inquest everywhere. The seasons prayed around his knees, Like children around a sire: Grandfather of the days is he, Of dawn the ancestor. : @georgerosephoto

Re-Post from our friends at @wineryreflections: This 2017 Dierberg Vineyard Estate Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay is a bright, balanced, and bodacious white from Santa Barbara County. Santa Barbara County's Santa Maria Valley is one of California's coldest and most marine-influenced winegrowing appellations, and yet despite the daily impact of cool fog and ocean winds this region's exceptionally long growing season allows for wine grapes to fully ripen while retaining outstand...ing freshness and verve. This bottling, crafted by Dierberg Vineyards using Chardonnay sourced from their eponymous estate vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley, provides an outstanding glimpse into the strengths of this epic Santa Barbara County terroir. This wine possesses excellent concentration and purity of fruit while remaining exceptionally energetic and nervy, and its discernable usage of oak and lees stirring integrates perfectly with its unquestionably fantastic acidity. This showcases an incredible marriage of classic and modern California Chardonnay styles in a presentation that is hard not to love. Excellent. See more
Decisions, decisionsTyler samples our 2020 Chardonnay and decides on the level of secondary fermentation, also known as Malolactic fermentation. Malolactic fermentation (also known as malolactic conversion or MLF) is a process in winemaking in which tart-tasting malic acid, naturally present in grape must, is converted to softer-tasting lactic acid. Chemically, malolactic fermentation is a decarboxylation, which means carbon dioxide is liberated in the process.
We are thrilled to announce our newest release from Star Lane Vineyard our 2019 Chenin Blanc! A multigenerational plan begs for trial. To pass the torch properly we persistently vet new opportunities and ideas without simply chasing fads and fashion. Chenin blanc, made famous in Loire Valley, France, was once widely planted in California. It has been reported that Napa Valley had over 2,000 acres in the 1980s. Now that is closer to 20. With ample acidity, tolerance for modera...te climates, and benefiting from dry weather we thought it was worth a trial at Star Lane Vineyard. We are thrilled with the results and expect to produce more moving forward. We hope you enjoy this glimpse into the future of what will likely be a very compelling wine for years to come. We’re going back to California’s classic past to Inform our future.
