Alameda pub crawl. Hello Everyone! It’s time for us to let you all know about our 2018 efforts with the non-profit, fundraising efforts and our two annual eve...nts the Superhero Pub Crawl and The Alameda Zombie Pub Crawl. It seems many don’t realize, or aren’t aware of how we fundraise or where the money raised goes. We’d love to put a spotlight on our efforts and how you can get involved. Primarily our efforts at fundraising have been via bar sponsorships of the events themselves. While this is great and we appreciate the support via this avenue, it does somewhat limit our fundraising. We donate raised funds through the Alameda Adopt a classroom program which helps fund school supplies, art, and music programs in our local schools, as well as donating to the Midway Women’s Shelter of Alameda which helps house at risk women and children threatened by abuse or homelessness. These are both great causes worthy of your attention and our collective efforts. We will be seeking new ways to raise funds through donations, personal crawl pledges and more in the coming year. We hope you’re as interested in making a positive impact as we are! At the non-profit organizational level we are restructuring our leadership. Jake Thompson (aka Jakob Wyrd) will be taking the helm as President. If you aren’t familiar with Jake he is the founding organizer of the Alameda Zombie Pub Crawl, he personally ran the event for the first 4 years before moving away. He does wish to express it was by no means a solo effort, as it began as a mutual birthday event with Tina Quihuis and a small group of friends that got it all started. He is determined to bring back the excitement and spirit of the event while also building upon what the non-profit has accomplished in his absence. Our former president of the foundation Kati Lynne will be transitioning to the VP and acting Treasurer while we restructure. More structural announcements will be made as we move forward and those details become finalized. NOW FOR EVENT ANNOUNCEMENTS! The 4th annual Alameda Superhero Pub Crawl! This year will be held on Saturday July 7th Dress up as your favorite superheroes and crawl bars in the downtown Park St. district. Bar Sponsors, and additional fundraising opportunities will be announced soon. Save the Date! ZC10: Hunters Ball Tentatively Saturday October 20th (possibly the 13th, whatever doesn’t impact the car show) This will be the 10th annual Alameda Zombie Pub Crawl and we aim to pull out all the stops! After a year of necessary scaling back it is our goal to again bring the crawl island wide. We are working very hard already on planning, organization and marketing. We aim to streamline things for our sponsors, fix the past problems with shuttle service, have an official costume contest, and together surpass all of our previous fundraising goals. We know that working together this community can do great things and we look forward to infecting you with the giving virus! Stay tuned for many more announcements soon!
