We are so excited to finally be able to announce that we have closed escrow on on the new future home of Dick Taylor Craft Chocolate!! This beautiful building which is located in the heart of Old Town Eureka on the boardwalk and dates back to the late 1800s. This property has been vacant for a few decades and is so ready to be restored to the gem that it once was. Adam and I have both lived in Eureka for many years, and it brings us such joy to be given the opportunity to not only fix up a beautiful piece of architecture but to also bring much needed new life to our historic old town water front. This last year, as everybody knows, has been one for the books.The physical, and emotional stress we have all experienced will be something we won’t soon forget.For many of us, not only has the work environment seen some changes but family life has been put to extreme tests.We have seen many of our employees juggle schooling kids while trying to keep up with work demands. What we have seen time and time again from our team is their unending ability to rise to the occasi...on, and while most employees have had to cut their own hours back to meet home needs, we have never made more chocolate and seen people hustle to make a product they believe in.One way of honoring their hard work in years past,has been to throw a holiday party.While a traditional party was not in the cards this year, we still value the idea of sharing a meal with the people that work so hard to make Dick Taylor a great place to work.In place of a party this year, we have chosen to cook a holiday meal that the employees can take home and share with their families.It’s a small gesture in return for such commitment and support.We love you guys!! The Covid-19 pandemic has brought new challenges and unpredictability to cacao producing families in southern Belize. The tourism industry, which was the largest contributor to Belize’s GDP and provided meaningful jobs to many farmers’ family members, collapsed overnight. Schools have been closed and public transportation has been stopped or limited. Food supply chains have been interrupted and essential goods have become much more expensive and harder to access. In light of ...this, our incredible partners at Maya Mountain Cacao have initiated a fundraiser to provide food baskets to 333 families across 27 communities in southern Belize in advance of the holidays. We're hoping to help them raise $5,200 to support this work, and you can find more details about the context for how these families have been affected on the fundraiser page.
