Mark James Collins- March 22, 1971 to September 28, 2020 49 1/2 years was not long enough. Mark left us so suddenly and unexpectedly. We didn’t get a chance to say goodbye and our hearts are broken. I know that one day we will see him in Heaven, but until then the tears fall. Mark was a wonderful son, an amazing older brother/brother-in-law, a fun-loving Uncle and a true friend. God made Mark special and he blessed our family and those who knew him beyond words. He loved to b...e on the river fishing at Board’s Crossing and flying high through the air on the giant swing at the Prader Willi Camp Harmon. Mark also loved visiting Uncle Jim and Aunt Maryann in San Diego, cheering on his Giants and Niners with his dad, knitting beautiful scarves for loved ones and never turned down a game of cards with his mom. Mark touched the lives of so many and everyone loved him. Mark was a 1992 Stagg High graduate where he lettered in Special Olympics. He swam for the Ambler’s Club Swim team, played Special Youth soccer, played Challenge Little League and cheered for Victoria Elite Cheerleading Squad. Mark earned the rank of Life in the Boy Scouts, was a member of the Kiwanis Club serving as Vice President and President, and was enrolled in the Manteca CAPS PLUS program where he served as the Self Advocacy President. He thoroughly enjoyed his community and volunteered for several projects which included working at the Food Bank and Crossroads Church in Manteca. Mark was an advocate for people with Special Needs. Mark had many talents but the most precious was his delightful smile and wonderful personality. Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents Leo and Elva Collins, James E Newsom and Sheri Jackson. As well as family members Ronald and Linda Collins, Otto Severn and Matthew Severn. Those who will never forget him include his parents Gary and Linda Collins, his sister Kendra Gorski (Jason), his brother Gary Collins Jr (Melissa), his nieces and nephews Ella, Leo, Avery and Jemma, his dog Ruger and other family members and dear friends. Mark also leaves behind the love of his life of 27 years, Dena Pfeifer and her family. A very special thanks to the staff at Valley Mountain Regional Center and Manteca CAPS PLUS for helping Mark reach his fullest potential. Mark will be missed, but will live forever in our hearts. Mark, we love you so much. In memory of Mark, donations can be made to California Prader Willi Foundation, 1855 First Street Suite 201, San Diego, Ca 92101 Mark’s family would love for you to share a story or a memory of him on https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/9384464

Father's Day is fast approaching. On Father's Day we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers and father figures in our lives. What's the best (or worst) piece of advice your dad gave?
