We would like to take this time to one again thank Yamaha for their generous donation! We were successful in obtaining a grant from Yamaha which allowed us to purchase two new light towers! I'm sure all of the OHV riders that see us in Dove Springs on all of the big weekends have seen them! Really lights things up allowing to better serve the community! This is not the first grant Yamaha has awarded to us. They have been very kind to us over the years. We all really appreciate Yamaha's Outdoor Access Initiative Program that works hard to give back to the OHV community!

Desert Search and Rescue 29.11.2020

It was definitely a crazy Thanksgiving holiday in the Desert! Reports are showing that we had 200,000+ people here in the Desert for the holiday! That breaks a record from several years ago where we had similar weather which drew a crowd of 150K! Looks like this was the place that everyone came to escape the Covid Lockdown! Even with all the people, injuries were kept at a minimum, and thankfully no deaths! There was a large law enforcement presence that also made a diffe...rence. But that did not stop the fun! We saw lots of brand new trailers, Bikes, ATV;s, UTV's, etc! I think many people got early Christmas gifts! We even saw someone set up a stage and had an impromptu concert in the Desert. We are glad everyone got to enjoy their holiday with their family here in the Desert.

Desert Search and Rescue 23.11.2020

The Desert SAR team will be staging once again in Dove Springs for the Thanksgiving holiday! We will be arriving on Wednesday and will be there until Sunday. We are expecting a record number of people in the desert. Please be safe, have fun and enjoy!

Andrea Kohler and I had the honor of presenting Kern County Sheriff's Office Desert Search and Rescue Captain Allen Wessell a plaque for the work the Unit did i...n 2001 in Rosamond on the Maria Pina murder case that resulted in the first degree murder convictions of two LA gang members in March of 2019 by a Kern County jury. This Mojave-Boron-Rosamond group of volunteers searched the sides of Highway 14 for hours after the murder and located a mask worn and discarded by one of the killers. The mask was tested 15 years later when DNA technology had further developed and the killer’s DNA was on the mask. We are so appreciative of the dedicated service of Desert Search and Rescue and are so grateful that their efforts led to achieving justice for the children of murder victim Maria Pina.
