We are happy to announce our office will re-open on Monday, June 1, 2020 after an extensive closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic! As excited as we are to return to offering our services to you, our loyal patients, it's highly important that MAJOR modifications have been implemented to insure your safety, and the safety of all Desert EyeCare Center staff. Here's how to navigate our new system of operations: 1. All patients will be required to use face coverings/masks to enter ...the facility and throughout the eye exam process. 2. All patients will require an appointment for all services, whether it's your annual eye exam, or you are in need of adjustments or repairs to your glasses. Appointments will allow for the necessary sterilization between each patient's visit to our facility. 3. While it has always been customary for our patients to try on frames while they wait for their eye exam, or just plain peruse for an exciting, new look- please DO NOT touch any frames until you are assisted by a staff member. Keep in mind all frames you try on MUST BE sterilized before returning to our frame boards for other patients to try on. 4. Eye exams have always been a family event! Unfortunately, we can only allow the patient with the eye exam appointment to enter the facility. If the patient is a minor, or requires assistance (either physical or interpretive services), only 1 other parent and/or caregiver will be permitted. So, please - leave the rest of the family at home! 5. Our office's appearance has been modified and staff will be wearing personal protective equipment (face shields and masks, gloves when appropriate) during your visit, so don't be surprised when you come in! There will be less sitting accommodations to allow for appropriate social distancing within our offices. 6. A COVID-19 verbal screening will take place when you set up an appointment, and again when you arrive at our offices. Your cooperation is appreciated. These initial guidelines will provide you with the new expectations involved with your visit to our offices. Dr. McFarland and his staff are eager to return to service all your eye care needs! In agreement with the recommendations of the California Optometric Association and CDC guidelines, Desert EyeCare Center will suspend operations through 04/19/2020. As the facts and situation around COVID-19 (coronavirus) continue to evolve, and in step with Gov. Newsom's recent Declaration of a State of Emergency, including the call for all seniors over the age of 65 and residents with chronic conditions to self-isolate at home, the California Optometric Association is requ...esting the cooperation of all California optometrists and issuing the following guidance:The California Optometric Association strongly recommends that optometrists practicing in California voluntarily suspend nonessential or nonurgent optometry care for the next 14 days. As always, it is expected that optometrists will continue to be available as needed for emergency care and services. Optometrists are considered non-essential services under the governor's guidelines. We will announce our re-opening as soon as responsibly possible. We encourage all of our patients to stay safe and follow all CDC guidelines to protect public health.
