Here at Alta Dermatology, we like to keep things simple. We recommend that your sunscreen be at least SPF 30 and have zinc oxide as the active ingredient. Sunscreens containing zinc oxide are known as physical blockers which are more stable in the sun, more water resistant and protect by sitting on top of the skin rather than absorbing into the skin as the chemical sunscreens do. Additional considerations when choosing a sunscreen may include particular skin conditions you might have including skin allergies, rosacea, acne or oily skin. No two people’s skin are alike, so ideally you would find a sunscreen best suited to your particular skin care needs. Ask your provider which formula is right for you! See more

While we are continuously monitoring and navigating the rapidly changing situation regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, our highest priority continues to be the health and safety of our patients and staff. We are available for in-office visits to patients with urgent or essential needs on Tuesdays and Fridays by appointment only. ... For non-essential visits, we offer Telehealth appointments on Monday and Wednesday mornings. If you have an in-office appointment, only the patient being seen by the provider is permitted in the office during the visit unless assistance is required. We also recommend wearing a cloth face covering to your appointment. For our in-office patients, we have implemented the following measures to protect patients and staff, which include, but are not limited to: -Screening patients and taking temperatures at check-in -Requiring office staff and the provider to wear surgical masks -Wiping down all common high-touch areas, such as exam beds, doorknobs, countertops, etc between each patient -Making hand sanitizer readily available in our office -Enforcing social distancing We will continue to update our website as our office hours change and as information becomes available to adapt to the evolving crisis. We are so lucky to introduce our new Physicians Assistant Allison Risley PA-C! Allison is a certified Physician Assistant who received her Bachelor of Arts from Azusa Pacific University. Allison obtained her Master's of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Western University of Health Sciences where she completed more in depth training in dermatology during her clinical rotations. ... Allison is passionate about delivering the highest level of patient care. It is Allison's goal to not only address any medical concern a patient might have, but to also ensure that the patient feels comfortable and cared for during their time at the office.
