The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) has published it’s 2020 Awards Recipients Page. Please take a moment to review the videos and comments on the page. While ASHA had to cancel the annual national convention this year due to COVID-19, the Sacramento State Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSAD) department is very well-represented among the awardees: California State University, Sacramento is the 2020 National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Associati...on (NSSLHA) Chapter of the Year The Chapter of the Year Honors award recognizes a chapter that demonstrates commitment to increasing chapter engagement and an awareness of National NSSLHA’s mission through inventive recruitment efforts, outstanding growth in National NSSLHA membership, and innovative advocacy and fundraising events. Dr. Heather Thompson and Dr. Tonia Davis are the CSAD NSSLHA Chapter faculty co-advisors. The Honors of the Association: Dr. Celeste Roseberry-McKibbin The Honors of the Association--the highest honor bestowed by ASHArecognizes members for their distinguished contributions to the discipline of communication sciences and disorders. Honors recipients are well-known throughout the nation and the world for a lifetime of innovative clinical practice, insightful and rigorous research, creative administration, effective legislative activity, outstanding teaching, or other distinguished professional contributions. Fellowship of the Association: Sacramento State Communication Sciences and Disorders Distinguished Alumna Awardee Dr. Deborah Ross-Swain Fellowship of the Association in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is one of the highest honors this professional organization can bestow. The individuals being honored have made outstanding contributions to the discipline of communication science and disorders in three of the following areas: Clinical service in the area of speech-language pathology and audiology. Clinical education and academic teaching in speech-language pathology, audiology, speech-language-hearing sciences, and related areas. Research and publications contributing to the knowledge needed by the professions. Administrative services in the area of speech-language pathology, audiology, and speech-language-hearing sciences. Service to ASHA. Service to and leadership positions in state speech-language-hearing associations and/or other related local, regional, national, or international professional organizations.
