Did you know that research has shown cheese to be one of the healthiest snacks for your child’s teeth? In addition to providing large amounts of calcium, cheese also can help to fight cavities. Cheddar, swiss, and monterey jack cheese all stimulate the body’s salivary glands to help clear the mouth of food particles and protect teeth from cavities!
A single can of soda contains 10-12 teaspoons of sugar. The recommended daily dietary intake of sugar is just 4 teaspoons! Just one can a day puts your child at increased risk for dental decay.
Not that we need another reason to eat vegetables, but did you know that foods like carrots, celery, and apples act like a toothbrush when we chew them? Giving your children this healthy snack not only helps them grow but also helps keep their smiles healthy!
Fluoride helps your teeth resist tooth decay. But did you know that too much fluoride at a young age can cause a condition called fluorosis which changes the appearance of tooth enamel? Be sure to talk with us about how much fluoride your child should be using before age 8!
Be patient with your children while they learn to brush and floss. With your help, children can start brushing their teeth around age 2-3 but may not be completely ready to go it alone until age 6. It can also take all the way until 10 years old to perfect flossing!
A common misconception is that because a child's teeth will eventually fall out for permanent ones, it's okay to let their oral health habits slip. Not only can decay early on lead to decay in permanent teeth, but severe decay can lead to additional health problems!
April is National Stress Awareness Month. We know that everyone will experience stress at some point in their life, but constant or extreme stress is bad for both the mind and body. Our team encourages you to take a few minutes today (and everyday) to work on managing your stress levels!
Remember that two minutes twice a day keeps your smile happy and healthy! #2min2x
We say this is time well spent!
Help Molar Bear by brushing and flossing twice a day. Together, we can stop enamel cruelty!
Any guesses on how much floss you have used in your lifetime?
Don't forget that flossing gets all the stuff your brush can't reach! (And also protects you from an embarrassing incident...)
A quick tip to keep your overall health as great as your oral health!
