As some of you know, my wife and I started a non-profit, Academe Grove, last year. The purpose of this non-profit is to support K-12 schools in funding, adopting, and implementing school safety measures. No bond measures. No prayers for increases in state budgets. Just community-based initiatives supporting evidence-based programs. Why today? Today marks the 10th anniversary of the Gabrielle Giffords shooting, a shooting which my mom survived. Typically, this day is about reflecting on a horrific tragedy. Not anymore. Today our family takes back January 8. From this day forward it will be about triumph, love, and victory. We need your help to change the face of school safety across the U.S. No more fear. No more feel good measures lacking any research. Help us partner with schools to implement evidence-based, trauma informed, and equitable campus safety programs. What we need from you: 1. Donate a MINIMUM of $5. Last week was an amazing experience for our cohort of instructors. Our Chief Instructor, Morgan Ballis, was out in Tennessee filming content from his High Threat Ballistics Lab curriculum teaching law enforcement officers. Our Staff Instructor, Brennan Vincent, was out in Arizona with Active Self Protection attending Massad Ayoob Group Deadly Force Instructor Course. We take every opportunity to be life long learners and strive for continuing education so we can provide the most dynamic training for our students.
