If practical, the best time to retain an attorney is before you are arrested. A young man was being investigated for a crime. The police went to his home and attempted to interview him. He gave the police our information and invoked his right to remain silent. We met with the young man and his father. We got his side of the story. We gathered evidence. I decided to share part of this evidence with the police. Based on the evidence we presented, the, today, District Attorney's Office decided not to file charges. The young man avoided being arrested and charged. I am happy for him and his family.

Trial Report, September 2017 Client was looking at 29 years in prison. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, personal use of a firearm, criminal threats, while armed, battery, and possession of a firearm by an ex-felon. After a one week long trial he was found not guilty of all charges, except for possession of gun--which we conceded. We were lucky to have a fair judge and a smart jury.

Recently, our offices had three motions to vacate pleas for failure to advise of the immigration consequences of their plea. In each instance we encountered professional prosecutors. Two recognized problems with the plea, while one saw no problem and fought against our motion to the bitter end. All motions to withdraw the plea were granted and the cases were all dismissed. Each client was fully rehabilitated, leading productive lives, loving their families and the kind of person I would be glad to have as a neighbor. The court's decisions lifted them from a cloud of fear and gave them hope for the future.
