An extension, La Porziuncola Nuova, reproduces a little church restored by St. Francis himself and was declared a 'National Shrine and Holy Site' by Pope Benedict in 2008. How's that for putting the St. Francis in San Francisco?

Wentworth Alley in SF 'Old' Chinatown. Red paint is counter-graffiti. This is where the Chinese fishermen's catch were dried and salted, hence early name: 'Salted Fish Alley'. Said fish provided early fortunes to Chinese in California being sold in China. Also plz note: one of last stone-paved streets in SF.
