What is validation and why is it so important to our relationships or our own mental health? Click below to find out! https://debraschmitt.com/validation/
Working on accepting our feelings is one of the first steps we take in therapy. These 'vistors' come to visit for a reason. Our work in therapy begins as we interpret the messages our feelings are trying to tell us, and open a dialog with them instead of pushing them aside. Therapy works best when we accept ourselves as we are, not as we hope to be. Give me a call if you are ready to start the the journey toward healing. www.debraschmitt.com (559) 696-5045
Box breathing, also known as the 4 count breath, is an excellent tool to combat stress and overwhelming emotions. First, clear your mind as much as possible, and enter into non-judgement. Then follow the instructions below. This is a great way to regulate your nervous system and calm your mind. Try it throughout the day to prevent toxic stress from building up. If you want more information please visit my website: www.debraschmitt.com or give me a call to set up an initial session at (559) 697-5045.
Very often, the only option we have is to move forward. Looking back simply is keeping us stuck! Maybe that means adjusting our priorities, or ending something in order to move toward a healthier life. Perhaps it is time to focusing on your mental health so you can find inner peace and freedom. Whatever your next step is, I would love to walk with you on your journey. Give me a call at (559) 697-5045 to set up a session. Visit my website www.debraschmitt.com for more information.
Sometimes there is so much going on in life that we lose touch with our own inner wisdom. So much pain, fear, and anger has arisen these last few months. It is time to take a sacred pause. Sit with it all, including your own reaction to it. Nothing should be pushed away. Instead, accept everything that arises. But do nothing. Then once it has all subsided wait, wait for the wisdom within to speak. This practice often calms the storm within. This too shall pass: this moment in time, this feeling, or this impulse. Nothing is permanent. If we pause, we give the storm time to teach us some great wisdom about ourselves.

There is a lot of fear and uncertainty right now. If we push it aside, or pretend our feelings are not what they are, then we can never learn to cope. Also, we then block the main path that can lead us to our own inner healing. Working to ride the waves of emotion with self compassion is the start of your healing journey. You will find more peace when you let your emotion run it's course, than when you stuff, judge, deflect, deny, project, or invalidate it. Emotions are ju...st emotions, they are not good or bad. They often leave as fast as they come. Let's learn to be authentic and sit mindfully with them, maybe even (if we are brave enough) asking them what they are trying to teach us about ourselves. If you want someone to sit with you in your emotions and help you find deep inner healing please give me a call at (559) 697-5045 www.debraschmitt.com

The simplest way to help another is most often to just try to understand them, not to fix them. If you need someone to sit with you as you explore your questions, give me a call.
