Happy #MindfulMonday DBTOC! A sense of urgency seems to come with the holiday season and it can feel overwhelming. It's even more important during this season to embrace the here-and-now and focus on the present moment instead of allowing ourselves to be pulled into urgency. A reminder today to take a moment to breathe and remind yourself: You are not behind. You are in motion, in bloom, in becoming. #mindfulness #DBTOC #dbttherapy #dialecticalbehaviortherapy #mindfulholidayseason #holidayseason #therapy #OCmentalhealth #mentalhealth
Happy #MindfulMonday! This quote from the creator of DBT, Dr. Marsha Linehan, reminds us there’s never a good or a bad time for mindfulness. What are some small ways you can practice mindfulness today?

Happy #MindfulMonday! How can you bring mindfulness into your relationships today? #BreneBrown #Mindfulness
Happy #mindfulmonday All! Today we’re focusing on how mindfulness can unlock your authentic self. Mindfulness is to place our awareness fully onto what is happening in the present moment without projecting an imagined future or dwelling over past history. Now you are finally able to break recursive thought patterns that are holding you back, creating spaciousness for something new to enter. Letting go of, rather than just lifting the bar of self-limiting thoughts for mindf...ulness, is living your highest authentic truth. Greater is the power in discerning when mindfulness can lead to authentic choice and the removal of boundaries within yourself and the world than to continue to react in ways that have outlived their usefulness. -Christine Horner #DBTOC #DBTSkills #DBTtherapy #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #dialecticalbehaviortherapy #vulnerability #BreneBrown #BreneBrownQuotes
Happy #mindfulmonday DBTOC! How are you taking time to meditate and slow down today?
Happy Mindful Monday DBTOC Family! Today’s mindful post is dedicated to the power of vulnerability. Most of us think of vulnerability as weakness. However, the word vulnerability simply means able to be open. By being open, we can clearly see ourselves and the world around us. This panoramic view gives us the ability & power to grow, heal, & be fully engaged in our lives. The first step of opening to our basic aliveness is becoming aware of the fears & self-beliefs that close... our hearts. For me, mindfulness meditation is the key for unlocking my heart when I’m scared of being judged, misunderstood, rejected or abandoned. Breathing into my heart center, bringing attention back to my breath and taking a moment to slow down and observe what myths I’m telling myself helps me to pivot from fear, to vulnerability. It allows me to accept myself as I am in the here and now, and be open to receiving help and support. People avoid vulnerability and play it small because we’re afraid of what will happen on the other side of the critique, of the exposure that happens when people have the opportunity to say thumbs up or thumbs down. But what’s interesting is the risk of refusing vulnerability is even greater than vulnerability itself. Refusing to be vulnerable means turning away from I love you and I’m sorry. Withholding your feelings when you’re struggling, hurt or upset can cause damage to our relationships and lead to serious regret in the long term. Genuine connection blooms from vulnerability. Vulnerability is not knowing victory or defeat, it’s understanding the necessity of both; it’s engaging. It’s being all in. Life is short. Be vulnerable, build genuine connections, accept help. Vulnerability is a superpower. #vulnerability #BreneBrown #MindfulMonday #DBTOC #DBT See more
We’ve seen an increase in COVID-19 cases in Orange County this week. This news can easily feel overwhelming. There are a few simple ways to turn our minds to a more positive place when receiving news like this and daily affirmations are certainly one of them. Health is wealth and positive health affirmations are an important piece of this wealth. When the mind thinks thoughts of health and wellness, the body finds it easier to be healthy. If you are feeling overwhelmed with the news, stop, take a breath, and say these affirmations out loud with your hand in your heart. We hope you find them helpful! Stay health and stay skillful. Sending strength and health your way. Love, DBTOC. #healthaffirmations #occovid19 #stayhealthy #wearamask
Happy Mindful Monday! Notice the urge to disconnect from sadness, anger, or pain this week. When the urge arises, remind yourself that learning the ability to stay with the felt sense of your hurt can be transformative. #mindfulmonday #DBTOC #radhuleweininger #dialecticalbehaviortherapy #dbtskills #urgesurfing #heartwork

In case you need some #Resilience today!
DBTOC believes Black Lives Matter. In lieu of a black square, we’ve decided to share Morgan Harper Nichols piece on empathy as it captures so eloquently how we feel. We are choosing to use our platform and our voice to support this movement. We acknowledge the deeply rooted systemic issues evident that create significant barriers for the Black Community seeking therapeutic services and the limited services available for this population. We are here to listen to ways we can be part of the solution. We are here to hold the door. After all you have walked through, it’s the least (we) can do. Please tag accounts and share resources about ways we can help be part of the solution. We will be compiling these to share in our upcoming newsletter #BlackLivesMatter

A friendly reminder that we are closed for Memorial Day Monday, May 25th. We hope you have a Mindful Memorial Day! All virtual services will be provided on Tuesday, May 26th.
A team of researchers at Carnegie Mellon suggest that self-affirmations actually buffer stress and improved problem-solving performance. We utilize daily affirmations at DBT Center of Orange County by sending them to each other via email to add focus, motivation, and inspiration to our day. They have been increasingly important during these more challenging times when we’re missing our office and in person meetings! Do you utilize affirmations?
