Join us on March 20th for fun and fundraising!
Join us this Saturday to spruce up our outdoor spaces! Thank you to our amazing community members who came out last week to help us recover from the storm!
As part of their human biology studies, each 7th Grade student created their own "baby", sewing them by hand, making carriers, and choosing clothing. Their biology assignment now is to care for their babies as they would a real infant. #humanreproduction #babiesrequirework Photo Credit: Michelle Byars
Today, the wonder of Waldorf education was on full display. The eighth grade released their handmade, hot air balloons as the Climbing Rose kindergarten watched on in awe. On the other side of the field, the 7th grade roasted marshmallows around a fire pit, warming hands and hearts. These memorable experiences would not be possible without the support of our resilient community. We here at DWS want to thank everyone who has given their time, hard work, and funds to make this ...year possible. Our Annual Giving Campaign is still active - there is still more time to give! Your donation allows us to provide this type of vibrant, engaging education. Please consider donating today, and help us spread the word by sharing this post with your friends and family. Follow this link to donate today: https://www.daviswaldorf.org/giving/annual-giving Around the world today, people are celebrating #GivingTuesday. As the year comes to a close, Giving Tuesday encourages everyone to get involved and give back to their community.
The whole school celebrated the first week of Advent with an outdoor assembly. The students gathered around a warm fire to hear a story about the kingdom of minerals. After the story, one student from each class lit a candle to bring the light and warmth of the community back to their classrooms. We will return next Monday to hear a story of the plant kingdom.
The colors of fall are beginning to fill the Davis Waldorf campus. The wind is blowing through the leaves, and a warm woolen sweater becomes the greatest gift. Warmth comes in many forms - colors, clothing, and community. "Children who live in an atmosphere of love and warmth, and who have around them truly good examples to imitate, are living in their proper element" Rudolf Steiner, The Education of the Child
Today the 6th grade explored the physics of sound! And when it comes to science, the best experiment is a hands-on one. The students tied strings to metal spoons and forks to explore the relationship between vibrations and sound. The students then held the strings in their ears and lightly tapped the metal against various surfaces to see what kind of sounds they could produce.
The Climbing Rose Kindergarten is living up to its name! The class worked together today to hang ladders in two of the trees in their yard. With Teacher Mary's help, they tied knots and pulled together to raise their ladders into the air.
