It’s the beginning of my 16’ easel. Basically all the hard work is done, it always takes 3 people to put this thing up. I’ll be teaching lettering and airbrush techniques on lettering once I finish it up. Three day workshops will be starting at $350-$550. Spread the word and let’s help carry on the crafts that beautify this world of ours. #handlettering #airbrushing #arts #crafts #artsandcrafts #learningarts #signpainting

To all creative people. We have the best jobs ever. If We are making signs, airbrushing, painting canvas, carving, faux finishing, and more, and we do our job right, we are helping people have a better life. ... We get to have fun making stuff, and some times, maybe most times than we admit we surprise ourselves when a project turns out really cool. As a creative person, We get to be a part of a society that improves our community, and beautifies our surroundings. We have put our hearts and souls into learning, and in many cases have spend way more time than any professional in any other trade improving our skills, usually starting in grade school. No one is a born artist, or artisan, I have never seen a baby come out of a womb with a paint brush and pallet and say, you should see the cave drawing I did in there. A real artist or artisan will not just take classes, but will do workshops, read everything they can, and even then, only passion and inspiration can make us become worthy of the terms, artisan, craftsman, or artist. There is no one type of person, no race, no culture, no financial demographic that limits anyone from being a creative. Almost everything that is made has artistic qualities about it in some way, and you cannot go anywhere in the world without seeing that. We have the best job in the world.

So here is the patina effect in process. I’m videoing in time laps, and probably going to do a YouTube channel on it because to really see it will take some time. As you can see here it is in the process of changing colors, which is this very cool before and after. People ask me what I’m using and where I get materials from. The HDU (high density urethane) is from Costal Enterprises...Precision Board, the Metal Coating is Sculpt Nouveau that I got at Industrial Metal Supply,... the Router was a Laguna Tools Router, Im still waiting on info about the Designer, after the piece was router, I used had tools to sharpen things up, and give that had carved look, the gold leaf I alway buy from Sepp Leaf, who has been very loyal to the sign trade, an you will see video of that probably next video. #architecture #arch #patina #patinsquad #faux #fauxfinish #fauxfinishing #carving #carvings #signs #signshop #precisionboard #industrialmetalsupply #ilovemyjob See more

The brown is a metal based paint that once sprayed with an activator will turn a really beautiful patina green color. The skull will be gilded with 23kt gold. #distressed #architectural #architecture #decoration #decorationideas #ilovemyjob #signmaker #signmakers #skulls #skulls

Ok so what your looking at is one side of the top wall of my building. The background is painted with a type of rag roll effect...finished The word Oceanside is the high density urethane with abalone inlayed into it...finished... The captains quarters has v-carved lettering that are gilded with 23kt gold, with abalone in the dots between captain and quarters, and with a laser engraved face of a captain...finished The zig zag things on the sides are going to be white marble bricks... not finished yet. The anchors will be painted to look like metal. With rope...not finished yet. I need to carve the water and soften the edges to make it look like it’s flowing/dripping down the wall, and once it is painted a little lighter blues, like water, I’ll paint the whale on it, then have the head and tail of the whale stick out each end, once I paint it the Oceanside lettering will pop more, and the drips will be revealing the whale...not finished yet. The valance at the top and the bottom will be painted like a marble effect, and the glass marbles will be lit from behind, and in the little dots on either side of the marbles will have abalone...not finished yet. This is the easy side to build. #architechture #model #modelbuildings #modelbuilding #signs #signsofthetimesmagazine #goldleaf #goldleafart #abalone #abaloneshell #dukeofpearl #carving #carvingwood #ilovemyjob #ilovemyjob
