Hey guys, the weather should be perfect for our upcoming work days. Dave & I removed about 13 trees this week in the Hull Creek area. Other groups have been working hard as well. Chris & Chris had 13 volunteers that resulted in $2,200 of grant match. We had our group from Valley Trail Riders go up this weekend and turned a club ride into a work day to support our work. Thank you guys !!... Dave & I will be up at Crandall Peak staging area this coming Wednesday May 17th. 10:00 key time. Chris Methot will be hosting a work day on May 20th. Details to follow. WE NEED YOUR HELP. IF YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO COME UP AND HELP, YOU CAN HELP IN OTHER WAYS. WE NEED YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT AS WELL. WE HAVE MATCH MONEY TO GATHER, ACCOUNTANT AND INSURANCE FOR THE NON PROFIT GROUP. ANY AMOUNT IS APPRECIATED EVEN IF IT IS JUST $5.00. You may not think that's much, but is all adds up.. You can mail a check made payable to CTUC (California Trail Users Coalition) C/O Stewardsd of Stanislaus National Forest, 955 Shepard Ct A-4, Oakdale CA, 95361 or on PayPal at [email protected]. Any amount would be appreciated. We are making progress, but there is a lot of work ahead of us. Dave & Barb

Our 2017 Spring Classic is the most backcountry route we've ever attempted. Beat up roads, pitches that'll make you set your jaw going up and burn your brakes g...oing down. Gravel double track, beautiful decomposed granite, insane views, water crossings, three distinctly different ecosystems. This route is truly a masterpiece. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2017-superpro-spring-classic-s

We opened our first new trail!!! Thanks to the hard work of the volunteers that showed up in Groveland, trail 17EV404 is now officially open! It is a fun one.... We will have our next volunteer work day on May 21st in Hull Creek. Work the 21st fun ride on the 22nd. Let us know if you can make it. After working and talking with the Forestry, the key to getting our trails opened and remain opened is a good show of volunteers. It shows we have a vested interest in our forest and it will speed up the process of reopening trails and putting new trails in. Barb & Dave

CENTRAL SIERRA TRAIL PRESERVATION FOUNDATION UPDATE LETTER AS OF 12/29/15 First, we would like to say thank you again to those who were able to come and show support for our first unofficial meeting on 10/22/15 at the Pine Tree Restaurant. Special thanks to Jerry Fouts from AMA District 36 for coming and helping us with the starting process. Since then, we have managed to collect at least 120 signatures, emails and phone numbers. We couldn’t have asked for a better start! Fo...undation Leaders - After several meetings over the last couple of months Dave Harrell and Barbra Mihovich have been selected as President and Vice President. Dave and Barbara have been fighting trail closures for many years and have the most experience and connections in the group. Chris Graham has been appointed Sargent of Arms, Trinidy Wolf Secretary, Chris Mehot Treasurer. Our Leaders are committed and will be volunteering to meet on a weekly basis. First Steps Central Sierra Trail Preservation or C.S.T.P., has currently been taking steps by submitting the necessary paperwork for us to pursue our new foundation under, The Stewards of the Sequoia’s. We will let our members know as soon as our paperwork has been processed and accepted. Currently our chances are very good at this time since there are no other groups in the region to protect our rights for public forest use. Our Committee will be meeting in January, inviting Beth from the Forest Service, , Amy from Corva, Don Amador of the Blue Ribbon Coalition, Jerry Fouts D36 and Steve from Stewards of the Sierra and the Forest Supervisor in January in order to discuss our goals and strategies for saving our trail systems. Once we have met, we will have another members/public meeting at the end of January or beginning of February to discuss our goals how everyone can help out by donating trail cleanup time and or money for the cause. Thank you again everyone for your commitment and time, we look forward to seeing how many passionate people we can gather for our next meeting late January or early February. We will update you as soon as we have a date, typically Thursday’s around 6:30 7:00 pm at the Pine Tree Restaurant in Sonora. NOTE This meeting is open to ALL who wish to help protect our forest from unnecessary Trail, Road and Camping area closures. (Motorcyclist, Horse Back Riders, Mt. Bikers, Snowmobilers & Hunters) See more
