2021! Ready or not...! What are you looking forward to in the next year?

Danville CA Stake News 14.12.2020

The 2021 Youth Theme for the @churchofjesuschrist is Doctrine and Covenants 64:33-34. 33 Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great. 34 Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind; and the willing and obedient shall eat the good of the land of Zion in these last days. ... Church Youth leaders shared, As you seek revelation, the Lord will guide you to know how to use your individual talents and personality to serve and live the gospel. He will stretch your imagination, creativity, and capacity in ways you never would have thought possible. As you offer your willing heart and mind to the Lord, you will discover more friends and increased opportunities to serve. Your sense of identity and purpose will be strengthened, and you will find joy. We may sometimes feel content to settle and coast, but God has something else in store. Just as He had a great work for Moses, He has a great work for you. Be not weary! We have complete confidence in youthe youth battalion of the Lord.

The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. It is a hard doctrine, but it is true. The many other things we give to God, however nice that may be of us, are actually things He has already given us, and He has loaned them to us. But when we begin to submit ourselves by letting our wills be swallowed up in God’s will, then we are really giving something to Him."Neal A. Maxwell

Danville CA Stake News 02.06.2020

For years my eye doctor invited me to have a lens replacement surgery done to increase the quality of my vision. As a military and professional pilot, I had exc...ellent vision throughout my life. To have surgery performed on my eyes scared me quite a bit. Talking with friends who went through the same experience helped me a lot to gain courage and confidence. It was the right step to take and would influence my vision for the rest of my life. Since we are living in the year 2020, what time would be better to regain 20/20 vision? The doctor did one eye first and asked me to compare the vision with the uncorrected eye. When I did, I realized that through my uncorrected eye everything appeared darker, as through a brown filter. Through the restored eye, I could see more clearly, brightly, and in its true color. With the help of the doctor, something was taken off my eyes that had slowly developed over many years and had limited my vision without me really noticing it. I am still amazed and grateful as I now enjoy my regained ability to see things as they really are. Thanks to all who helped me to take that important step. I believe that such a step also occurs when we first learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ, or when we decide to recalibrate our life the Lord’s way. The path of repentance and forgiveness may at times seem a bit scary and hard to do. The Savior is the Master Healer. His divine sacrifice and love for us are the path to regain the clear and true vision of things as they really are. By the power and gift of the Holy Ghost, obstructions are taken away, and we will see with clarity how to decide and move forward in our lives. It is only after our vision is cleared that we realize what we had missed before. Let us pray for each other, help each other, and walk the Lord’s path together. I send my love and invite each of us to let Him open our eyes so we may see things as they really are. #HearHim

Last Fall we welcomed Collin Kartchner to speak to our community in Danville. Several hundred of you joined us to listen to him share his message in a packed chapel and gymnasium. Earlier this week, Collin unexpectedly passed away. We invite all youth, parents, and any other community members to join us in writing cards/messages to be shared with his family. We will be collecting them through October 29th. Contact Kathy Salsbury with any questions or message us for where to drop off cards.
