I have been getting a lot of requests from clients on how to keep a list of the possessions in your home (in case of fire or burglary). Performing a detailed inventory is the best way. Usually I suggest to do this during the rainy season (you're inside anyway and bored), but who knows when we will get rain again! Here is a link to a great free website that will help you perform the inventory and it will save the inventory to their server, no charge. https://www.knowyourstuff.org/iii/login.html

I wanted to share a situation currently going on with one of the clients in the agency, and the importance of adding a Personal Injury endorsement to your homeowner's insurance policy. A client’s son posted a video on YouTube sharing his negative customer service experiences with a company. The company sued him for defamation, and sadly the son ended up committing suicide (appears there were other issues going on). The company then turned the lawsuit over against his mother a...s next of kin. She filed a claim with her insurance carrier for coverage and just received a decline because there was no Personal Injury endorsement on the Personal Liability coverage on her homeowner's insurance policy. Now she will be on the hook for all the defense costs, which could have been alleviated by adding this endorsement. Average cost of this endorsement is about $13 a year. We did not sell the policy in question to the client, her previous agent did, but we did mention it was an area of concern when we reviewed her coverage. We had recommended adding this coverage as part of the new plan we presented, but she had not made the decision to move forward with that portion of the plan and now we cannot protect her from this unfortunate circumstance. But the new plan will protect her in the future. I encourage all of you to review your current policy and make sure that a Personal Injury endorsement is added to the Personal Liability portion of your Homeowner's policy. If your current agent can't help you, I can.

O.K. trivia fans, here is the answer to yesterday's quiz. Did you get it right? Automotive Trivia Answer What did the three points on the Mercedes-Benz star represent when the star was trademarked in 1909?... A. Church, people and nation. B. The partnership of Gottlieb Daimler, Karl Benz and Mercedes Jellinek. Answer: C. The use of Daimler Moteren Gesellschaft (DMG) engines on land, in the water and in the air. (Mercedes was the name of Emil Jellinek's daughter. Jellinek ran a successful, turn-of-the-century racing team under the Mercedes name and he sold Daimler cars with "Mercedes" badges. The Mercedes trade name was registered by DMG in 1902. Today's Mercedes-Benz three point star with a ring around it was patented by DMG in 1923. DMG and Benz & Cie did not merge into Daimler-Benz AG until 1926.)
