T O P 9 - 3 R D S W O O P One thing I like about designing the exterior vs interior is the freedoms of shapes and objects. For example a swimming pool like this can be an very abstract shape and still be functional due to the size so we have more creative freedom. With the inside it’s harder to create abstract shapes like this because of space restrictions. Interior is more like designing within a parameter and how to make it pretty and exterior is more like designing outside... the box with more freedom and allows more unique shapes. T O P 9 - 4 th W A Y S There are many ways to spruce up a room. You can use this as a list to look at when deciding what to do with a room. I broke down the number of things we did to spruce it up. Use as a reference when deciding what you can do with your own space. . 1. Paint- we repainted to a beige tone color to match rest of the house ... 2. Coffered ceiling- gave it coffered ceiling treatment to give it more details. Make it look more fancy. 3. Wall paneling/treatment - we paneled the wall with wood panels around the window then installed custom mirrored tiles to make the room look bigger. 4. Flooring- replaced carpet with marble tiles 5. Windows- removed windows on the right side and replaced with bifold doors to give access to the California room outside. 6. Wine column- added 2 wine column for frame in the dining room and have display and storage for wine bottles 7. Window treatment-roller shades that retract to cover the windows. Drapes in front of the new door we installed. 8. Furniture- Gotta have them 9. Art and decor pieces 10. Lighting- custom chandelier overhang the dining table. . Z I G - Z A G This property was a very odd and challenging one to design. The builder had put a guest house very close to the main house causing the property to be split into 2 usable areas. What we did was put the spa and a small deck in the smaller usable space then connect to the main pool with a swimmable lane. This way the two areas are both usable. . Even though this kitchen looks pretty simple and clean when it’s all said and done, it required 14 slabs from island to the backsplash. D E S I G N A good design is not just something that looks aesthetically pleasing, it should also provide solution to problems. . Problem: The client wanted privacy from neighbors lower level iron fence and also get rid of the unsightly low iron fence. .... Solution: We created a waterfeature along the property wall that curved in towards the house to provide screening from the neighbors and a design element while looking from the side yard. Hedges were planted behind the waterwall too to block the second story balcony view too. Those should have been grown in now.
