Ever wondered what the installation of helical piers looks like? We take pride in not being invasive to yards during our #FoundationRepair projects and typically we wouldn’t dig up a nice green lawn... but in this situation we had some very old shrubs and bushes that we needed to protect due to the sentimental value to the homeowner. This meant that instead of throwing our torque bar against the home to hydraulically drive these helicals, our crew protected the plants and... dug out small squares in the grass. It’s always a team effort in the #FoundationRepair industry! Earlier this week we checked in with Jon and his crew as the installed the final 3 helical piers at their project in Costs Mesa. They’re installing this vertical pier to help address the setting, or sinking, that this home’s experienced over the years. Due to the presence of expansive clay soils, this home had actually settled as much as 3 inches in several areas in addition to massive cracks throughout the stuc...co and drywall’s. They installed close to 20 piers around the home’s perimeter and yesterday the transferred the weight of the home away from those expansive clay soils at the surface and to these piers that were driven to competent, load-bearing strata. #WeFixFoundations #NeverSettle #FoundationRepairs #CostaMesa

It’s #MeetTheTeamMonday and we’d like you to meet Carlos. Carlos is our team’s Field Supervisor and he’s one of our longest standing employees! Carlos got his start in foundation repair in his home state of Iowa in 2008 installing everything from waterproofing sumps, to piers, and tie-backs in basement walls. After migrating west to Southern California he continued working in the foundation repair industry, growing his knowledge of the issues that many homes face. He start...ed out as a crew support in 2008, became a foreman in 2009, and then enlisted in the US Army in 2012. When he isn’t working or serving our country you can usually find Carlos spending time with his fiance or enjoying the great outdoors. Are you wondering what this yellow thing is like these cats are? Joe gained some furry friends at a recent foundation inspection and they were very interested in his Ziplevel Altimeter. It’s basically a very sophisticated, fancy, new age version of a water level. During the inspection Joe would Mark a zero point, usually near the front door, and take several measurements throughout each room. The altimeter is able to very precisely and accurately measure any changes in... altitude or height in the foundation. Joe transfers each measurement to his scaled floor elevation drawing of the home and is able to create a very insightful overview of a structure’s foundation. It’s almost like a topographic map that will allow him to design a very accurate repair plan if necessary. We give these CAD drawings to homeowners after every inspection to file away as reference years down the road! Just a couple of seconds before this shot they were all smiles and posing for the camera... but now it’s time to work! This home had settled pretty significantly, but Jesse and his crew lifted the home with ease. As you can see, they installed helical piers around the backside of this home, adjacent to its footing. They then mounted brackets to the footing and t...ransferred the weight of the home to these helical piers and away from the incompetent, expansive clay soils at the surface. #WeFixFoundations #NeverSettle #FoundationRepairs
