Here is our latest dry sump system for the GM Gen V LT1 engine. This system was designed to fit in a Corvette without any modifications to the chassis, steering, motor mounts, or serpentine accessories while clearing up to a 4.400 stroke with aftermarket rods. #daileyengineering #drysump #corvette #billet #drysumpsolutions

Repost from @hpa101 Dry sump lubrication systems are nothing new, however many enthusiasts who aren’t involved in the engine building phase never really get to see what makes up the heart of this system. Here we can see a #GM #LS dry sump system from @daileyengineering This uses a billet aluminium pan that replaces the stock sump and includes an integral 5 stage pump. 4 of the stages are referred to as scavenge stages and these suck oil and air out of the crankcase. The las...t stage is the pressure stage which supplies oil back into the engine. The aim with a dry sump system is to evacuate the oil and blow by gasses out of the crankcase and pump them into a remote reservoir. In this reservoir the oil and air are separated, and a constant supply of oil can then be drawn from the bottom of the tank and forced through the engine by the pressure stage. The first advantage of a well designed system is that regardless of the cornering or braking forces the car is subjected to, a constant supply of high pressure oil is always available to the engine internals. The second advantage is because we no longer need to store oil in the sump, the sump can be much shorter, allowing the engine to be fitted lower in the chassis and improving the centre of gravity. The often overlooked advantage however is that a dry sump system can also reduce windage losses in the sump (power lost by the crankshaft and conrods moving through the oil mist in the sump), and by drawing a vacuum in the sump this can allow low tension rings to be used, reducing frictional losses without compromising ring seal. All of this can add up to 20-50+ additional horsepower depending on your base engine and how well designed the oiling system is. #fromthearchives #highperformanceacademy #enginebuilding101 #daileyengineering #drysumpsolutions #drysump See more

Engine Power GAINS With MORE Reliability? How! [TECH TALK] What do you know about dry sump systems? What kind of power increase might you expect to get on your ...LS swap or Chevy LS engine with the fitment of a dry sump? Due to reduced windage losses and increased pressure differentials across the piston rings a dry sump system can not only provide increased reliability due to a constant supply regardless of the g-forces on the engine, but also a slight power increase as Bill Dailey from Dailey Engineering explains to Andre at the 2018 Performance Racing Industry Trade Show. Discussed is how the vacuum is controlled, some of the potential gains you might expect from an LS crate motor and others depending on your ring tension and also how monitoring this vacuum and the pumps performance can also give an indication of your engines overall health. Lastly Bill covers some of the factors that go into deciding, or even dictating, how many scavenge stages you might expect to use on an engine. What to learn how to tune EFI? #Repost @csl_e36 with @get_repost The belly of the beast: Here is a quick glance of the dry sump setup. All that billet goodness powered by @daileyengineering oil pump. The pump uses supercharger style lobes and creates a vacuum below the pistons, reducing pressure and adding horsepower. What you cant see is the billet crank, forged rods, custom 2 ring pistons, custom grind Schrick cams surrounded by titanium retainers, seats, and valve springs AND all the other genius engineering knowledge that this team has acquired over the last 30 years..... #therealstevedinan #carbahnmotorsports
