Daffodil Hill 03.11.2020

The heavy rains that we have experienced so far this week and predicted for this weekend have, and will, damage the blooms to the point where they cannot recover. Rain is further predicted at Volcano off and on through April 17th. The current rainfall has made our paths and parking areas slippery and impractical for visitors and vehicle parking. The anticipated rains will only exacerbate this problem. Together these factors have led the family to make the difficult decision t...o close Daffodil Hill for the 2019 season. We realize that this decision will disappoint all who were planning on visiting us this year, however, the weather has dictated this decision. While we greatly appreciate our guests, the thousands who visited this past weekend completely overwhelmed our narrow county road system leading to the Hill as well as our parking, restroom facilities, and our garden areas. These are issues that the family will attempt to address in the coming months through meetings to identify any possible solutions before the 2020 season. Again, thank you to everyone who continues to support Daffodil Hill, we truly appreciate you.

***UPDATE 3/31*** With the anticipated rain for the next week we will be CLOSED tomorrow 4/1 through the remainder of the week. Please check the page and call (209) 296-7048 prior to visiting. We will be sure to update our page if/when we reopen. Sorry to those who planned a trip for this week. :( Additionally, at the request of the California Highway Patrol, when visiting in the future please make every effort to park in the parking lot and if you find yourself needing to park on the roadway please ensure your entire vehicle is off the roadway. We have experienced numerous traffic related issues as a result of cars in the roadway. We know traffic can be chaotic/frustrating especially on the weekends so we appreciate everyone's patience.

***Please read the entire post *** Ladies and gentlemen it looks like we’re going to be able to open for the 2019 season on Saturday, March 30th! Our hours are 10am-4pm 7 days a week. (weather permitting) It is unknown how long this season will last as we are expecting more rain 4/2-4/7. We are only open as long as the weather allows so please check the weather forecast before visiting. ... As always, please CALL prior to your visit as we would hate for you to make the drive only to find we have closed for the day. (209) 296-7048. Sticking with tradition admission and parking is FREE, but we do accept donations which help pay for bulbs for future plantings. You’re welcome to pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic in our designated picnic area. As much as we love animals, we DO NOT allow pets on the property. So please find a pet sitter before your trip. For those making the trek on two wheels please be aware we only offer gravel/dirt parking for your motorcycle. We suggest skilled riders only. Please be respectful to the property and stick to the walking paths! This ensures the flowers will look as good as possible for as long as possible! Thank you everyone for your patience as we’ve had some crazy weather this year. Hopefully Mother Nature will bless us with some great weather so everyone can enjoy their visit. -DH

*UPDATE 3/16/2019* As you can see, the flowers are not yet in bloom and we have NOT opened for the season. There are other sources saying we are open and that is false. Please consider this Facebook page the only reliable source when it comes to openings/closures. We hate to see visitors make the trip only to find out we are closed. At this point, we are working hard to clear the paths of fallen leaves and branches to ready the property to guests. We expect it will be another two weeks before we can open. Thank you for your patience! -DH

As you can see by these pictures taken on Friday (3/8) we still have a ways to go before we can open for the 2019 season. The snow and rain we have been experiencing has delayed the blooming of the flowers and pushed things back likely toward the end of March. Please be patient as we wait for good weather and a good amount of the flowers to bloom before we open our gates. We’d hate for you to make the trip and be disappointed. -DH

Due to ongoing rain and potential snow today, we have been unable to open our gates thus far. With more predicted rain we will not know what date we will be opening until we’ve had consistent sun for a bit. We will do our best to post an opening as soon as we can, but at this point we’re all on standby for clear skies.

Even more snow is predicted over the next week! Here are some pictures from Feb 11th to show the current condition of Daffodil Hill. As always, we will try to keep everyone updated as to when we anticipate opening for the 2019 season, but it’s looking like it might be a while!

Too beautiful not to share. Just a friendly reminder we still have a ways to go before the flowers start blooming and don’t anticipate opening until some time in March. We’ll keep you updated as we get closer to opening our gates! -DH

Sure is pretty up here! Snow this time of the year could actually mean GOOD things for the flowers! Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to March.

As we enter 2019 we have received many excited inquiries as to when we will be opening! We typically try to open our gates to the public around mid-March assuming we have good weather and the flowers are in bloom. Daffodil Hill is located in Volcano, CA and sits at approximately 3,000ft elevation. As a result, our flowers bloom much later than those you may see in lower elevations. In the off-season, family members planted 6,000 new bulbs in anticipation of a great season! We will be sure to post updates as we grow closer to an opening day! - The Ryan’s

Daffodil Hill 19.07.2020

Friends of Daffodil Hill, We are sorry to inform you that due to the unusual weather, Daffodil Hill will not be opening for the 2018 season. We started the season by planting more than 15,000 bulbs in November. We had some warm weather in February which started the bulbs blooming and thought we would have an early opening. ... Since the end of February we have had rain, hail, and snow every week. The early flowers are gone and the ones that are up are badly damaged. We are posting this notice since more rain and snow are expected this week. We hope that those who have been waiting to visit will be able to make other plans to enjoy the beauty, shopping, wineries, and great restaurants Amador County has to offer. We look forward to seeing everyone next year. - The Ryan Family

We just can’t seem to catch a break! Due to ongoing snow and rainfall we are still unable to open and will not be open for Dandelion Days. We will be sure to post updates as we can, but at this point it doesn’t look like we will be able to open for a while.
