#TBT #throwbackthursday This April-May, at the early stages of the pandemic we had our first hot meal program. Thanks to the help and solidarity of Cypress Park day laborers, we distributed more than 1,500 meals over the course of six weeks With the support of Councilmember Gilbert Cedillo office and IDEPSCA we were able to support local businesses to make this a community centered relief effort. Over the course of the month we also received donations of water and a new c...anopy from Greater Cypress Park Neighborhood Council which was essential as the temperatures began to rise. The amazing Proyecto de Salud also came out to distribute masks and important COVID-19 health and safety info to workers! Lastly, one of our day laborers (last pic) donated two coolers of icy cold soda to supplement fellow jornalerxs’ hot meals These are some of the highlights of solidarity and community action the jornalerx community spurred in response to the pandemic.
