Project spotlight: Central Cal Baseball Academy, Al Radka Park Adoption of a City park for team practices and home field games. Central Cal Baseball Academy (CC) entered into a partnership with the City of Fresno to adopt Al Radka park, which had fallen into disrepair due to chronic City funding shortages. Project spotlight: Central Valley Community Sports Foundation, Gateway Ice Center Central California’s only ice-skating rink. Gateway regularly hosts community groups such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central California, Children’s Hospital Adaptive Sports and the Boys & Girls clubs for individual and group events. Central Valley NMTC provided critical working capital and acquisition financing, which allowed CVCSF to secure a $2.5 million donation of equipment, fixtures and supplies necessary to maintain operations at the facility. Project spotlight: Central Valley Community Sports Foundation, Granite Park Sports Complex Revitalization of an abandoned 18-acre community sports complex. Granite Park, a sports complex located in central Fresno, was created in the mold of a Big League Dreams concept that would provide first-class baseball, softball and soccer fields to the community at large and to attract state and regional wide sporting tournaments. Project spotlight: West Hills College Farm of the Future An innovative facility and farm to expand agriculture and industrial science programs while increasing internships and employment opportunities for students. The Farm of the Future covers 213 acres, with twenty-five acres for new livestock, equestrian and rodeo grounds, a practice arena, stock pens and associated pastures. New and expanded classes and courses are taught in a new 15,000 square foot career and technical education facility located on 5 acres. The balance of the acreage at is a working farm. Project spotlight: North Fork Community Power, North Fork Bioenergy Plant A pioneering project to reduce forest fire hazard while producing clean-renewable energy. North Fork is a small, rural community located in the foothills of the California Sierra Nevada mountain range. Unemployment in the town is more than 3 times the national average. Project spotlight: Maya Cinemas Fresno, Heritage Theatre A 16-screen, state-of-art, movie theatre to serve as the anchor tenant for Fresno State's $150 million Campus Pointe Town Center dining and retail project. Heritage Theatre is owned by Maya Cinemas, which is a minority-owned chain of theatres located in areas with strong Latino demographics. First 5 Fresno County has invested more than $200 million in local programs that provide direct services to young children and their families. These investments support high quality preventative health, early learning, and family support services that help give children the best possible start in life. Project spotlight: West Hills College Lemoore, Multi Use Sports Complex The facility serves as the wellness center for the college by providing space, equipment and facilities for the college population and the community at large. The creation of the complex created 185 construction jobs and 12 permanent jobs averaging over $58.00/hr in wages, plus health insurance, retirement benefits, and educational assistance. Project spotlight: United Health Centers of the San Joaquin Valley As part of United Health Centers strategic plan to meet the health care needs of farm workers and other struggling residents, UHC initiated two worthy projects, the construction of new clinics and facilities for both their Parlier and Mendota locations. We provided financing used for construction at the Mendota site and to purchase equipment and furnishings at both the Parlier and Mendota projects.
