Joe Curtis, our COO, and resident data geek, recently shared this super helpful graphic outlining current conditions in the Southern California real estate market and some corresponding thoughts. Take a look! Well, 2020 is now in the books. Thank God! What a year. What a ride in the real estate industry.... No real surprises in December over November. We saw a normal decline in all of our month over month indicators - inventory down in the double digits across all counties in southern California. The biggest notable here is the almost 50% decline month over month in new listing for Orange County. Rates are still low. Inventory is seasonally low and in southern California - historically low (see Michael Simonsen's latest video on the market https://lnkd.in/gygiMnk Bonus: you get to see his new stash Cancellations are a bit higher month over month but I'm not overly concerned - December is typically a "month of reckoning" where we have a rush to close many deals before year-end and they either close or cancel. The California Association of REALTORS (C.A.R.) has advocated for many of the provisions that would provide relief to REALTORS, including extensions of Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) benefits and additional forgivable Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans through the $900 billion stimulus bill.
