Like glass! Matt at Custom Hot Mops is awesome at waterproofing shower pans!
Built this shower pan today, pre sloped for hot mop (tar) and sheetrocked this shower surround. All in the prep! Next, hot mop, waterproofing, chicken wire, cement, then tile!
Grout joints disappeared! No matter what shower I do I always prefer to mortar walls. Makes for a smooth flat wall. It also allows for water tight application.
Still alot to do in this kitchen. But my parts done. Looking forward to seeing it all complete to compliment the tile!
More spanish style tiles! There is going to be open shelving in this kitchen with a hood that comes to to meet the top of the tile behind the stove. Work in progress pics! Stay tuned.

Tub back progress pics. Simple but clean!
Master glass door and shutters went in.
Ok so I showed how I prepare for cement. Now here are photos of how hardi-backer or triton board should be installed. Pre cut the board, glue board down with modified thinset using a quarter inch or three eighths inch notch trowel, and screw with backer board screws. Be careful not to screw the screws through the board as they are self tapping. I used red guard as extra protection against water by the tubs splash area and between the seem of the board and tub. Your tile installer should always glue the board down on floors. Creates a way better substrate for tile.
Smooth like butter! Man, I just listened to my previous video and I sound like I'm dying, lol! This guys gotta start doing some cardio!!
A little run down on how I prep showers for tile.
Stacked stone fireplace all done!
Outside fireplace in stacked stone. Work in progress.
A little background on my company. I began my career at the age of 18. I started off as a laborer for a ma and pa tile company. Mixing cement and making cuts on the saw for the tile setter. I was a laborer for a while then moved quickly up the ladder to cementing showers and eventually installing tile. After working with a few companies I went to a license instruction school and received my license in 2005 at the age of 24. I love what I do and put that into all of my work. T...iling is becoming a lost art and eventually I would like to take someone under my wing to teach how to do what I do and in the correct fashion. Tiling is a very labor intensive job but the reward at the end of each job is gratifying. Seeing your art finished and the customers appreciation of what you've done is what keeps me going. Thank you to all my customers allowing me to add a bit of art to each and every one of your homes. I look forward to continuing to do so and hopefully in a short time bring on new faces to work for Custom Tile Creations. See more
Laundry and office done!
I get asked frequently if I know anyone who cleans grout and tile. These guys are local in Hollister and do a great job. They also seal grout after cleaning. Here is their card if you should need your tile cleaned.
