December Core Value: Generosity Day 15: It’s probably safe to say that... most of us love to receive a gift, right? And this is the month, December, that most of us receive gifts, give gifts, or both! Do you put thought into your gift? There’s nothing better than getting a gift in which you KNOW the person who gave it to you put a lot of thought into it. It doesn’t have to be anything real big or expensive, but it’s the idea that they gave their time to find the perfect gift for you. Being generous goes a long way See more

December Core Value: Generosity Day 13: Have you heard of the idea... of pay it forward? It’s the idea that when someone does something kind to you, you then do a kind gesture to someone else. For example, someone smiles at you and tells you to have a good day. You then hold the door open for a teacher with their hands full. The trend keeps going! Let’s start a chain reaction and give away kindness today at every turn! See more

December Core Value: Generosity Day 11 Giving away lots of money... would be really generous! But let’s be honest, most of us probably don’t have lots of money to give away to make someone’s day. So aside from money, think of something YOU can give away this week that would really make someone’s day. Day 12 Our value is generosity this month. Generosity is making someone’s day by giving something away. Can we give away our time? How have you been generous by giving away your time this month?

December Core Value: Generosity Day 10: Our core value animal is the... Angora goat. Angora goats can come in a variety of colors including white, brown, grey, black, red, and even silver! These special creatures can be found on farms and use their mohair for products that we all use. Their mohair can be found in carpets, wall fabrics, craft yarns, and many other fabrics, and may be used as a substitute for fur. See more

December Core Value: Generosity Day 9: Our value animal is the Angora... goat. These generous creatures give their fluffy and soft mohair away so that others can make fabric and even clothing. Since these goats spend a lot of time growing their hair, they have high needs for eating. If they are not fed often, their hair growth will slow. Angora goat farmers are generous in their feed for the goats in order for the goats to grow a generous amount of hair. See more

November Core Value: Gratitude As we wrap up this month and our conversation about gratitude, we realize that... gratitude is a great segue way into next month’s value of generosity. In December, we will learn that generosity is making someone’s day by giving something away. There is no better gift you can give someone than letting them know how much they mean to you. Zig Ziglar once said, Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for. This means that as you notice things to be grateful for, you will have gratitude for more things. Robert Brault said, Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. This month, remember to find even little things to be grateful for. Gratitude is letting others know you see how valuable they really are.

November Core Value: Gratitude All of us have been helped in some way throughout our lives. Help may have come in... big ways or just small ways, but none of us can get through life on our own. Think of one way someone did something to help you. What would have happened if that person didn’t help you? When you can picture the alternative, the gratitude overflows! Gracias. Merci. Gratias tibi. Tack. No matter how you say it, it all means thank you. Each culture has its own ways of expressing gratitude. What are some ways you and your family show your appreciation? Share with your friends the ways you or your entire family has expressed their gratitude to someone for a kind act.

November Core Value: Gratitude Our Big Idea is gratitude. Joy is the simplest form of gratitude. When we show... gratitude, letting others know that we have seen how they helped them, it should bring us joy. Try it today. Show gratitude to someone and see how it makes you feel. November Core Value: Gratitude Gratutide Our core value animal this month is the shark. Did you know that a shark’s teeth are... usually replaced every eight days? Some species of sharks shed about 30,000 teeth in their lifetime. Guess we can say that sharks have gratitude for their ability to grow teeth faster than any other species. Our value color is pewter, which is a silver-gray hue. Pewter is also a silver-gray metal, which was used for decorative items and tableware decades ago. Pewter was the chief material for producing plates, cups, and bowls until the making of porcelain. It’s interesting that pewter goes in hand with cooking items. We let those that have prepared a meal know that we appreciate them. So pewter and gratitude go hand in hand.

Emma Wilson Elementary 04.04.2020

November Core Value: Gratitude Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of gratefulness.... Gratitude can be spoken, but it can also be demonstrated by our actions. Take time to show your gratitude today; let someone know that you see how they have helped you. Have you thanked someone today? Did you let them know that they helped you and that you appreciate them? Don’t let a day go by without saying thank you to someone who has helped you.

Emma Wilson Elementary 23.03.2020

November Core Value: Gratitude Former President John F. Kennedy once said: As we show gratitude, we must... never forget that the highest appreciation is to not utter words, but to live by them. What a great way to look at our Big Idea gratitude: letting others know you see how they’ve helped you. Our value this month is gratitude. Did you know that when you show gratitude by letting others know you see how they’ve helped you, you are more likely to eliminate stress? Showing your gratitude to someone makes you at least 25% happier and can even boost your self-esteem. Here’s to starting our day with a heart of gratitude.

November Core Value: Gratitude Our Big Idea for November is gratitude, which is defined as letting others know you see... how they’ve helped you. How do you show gratitude to those who help you? You have to choose to be truthful, which also means that you can choose to NOT to be truthful. Choosing to be truthful will always be the right choice!

September Core Value- Friendship Day 13: Our color this month is fuchsia.... Fuchsia is an eye-catching color that commands attention. Fashion designers often pair fuchsia alongside black or white to make a design pop. It also pops with lime green. Fuchsia combined with a bright yellow or orange creates a bold, attention-grabbing color palette. Just as fuchsia pairs well with many different colors, friends pair well, too. Day 14: Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend. That’s a powerful force! When you show someone you care, it’s hard to be their enemy. So, if you want to avoid having enemies, try showing everyone you care!

Day 12: The colors that pair well with this month’s color fuchsia include lime green, mint and tangerine. These colors go with fuchsia’s bright, bold appearance. The color is energizing and uplifting. It’s likely to be considered a fun shade. Fuchsia is a perfect color to represent friendship. Friends enjoy each other and lift one another up.

Did you know that when an octopus is in captivity it initiates interaction with humans, and sometimes with others of its kind in the wild? Friendships can stretch us in surprising ways! Day 6: This month our animal is the octopus. These animals stick to a number of surfaces under the sea - just like true friendships. Friends come and go like waves in an ocean, but true friendships stick around like an octopus! Day 7: Friends are important to have in life. They’re there for us when we need a pick-me- up and just to celebrate the good times. Think of someone who’s been a good friend to you. Think about what they’ve done to be a good friend. This month, try to be a better friend to someone. Day 8: The term "fast friends" means that people became buddies very quickly after they met. Maybe they had something in common, or shared an experience, or knew a common friend. Have you ever made a "fast friend"?
