So this year, Reading Rabbit and his family decided to stay in for Halloween, and while they know they'll miss trick-or-treating with their friends and munching on candy carrots, they are having a blast making their own costumes and Grandpa Rabbit even has some special spooky stories to share with them. If you’re staying in too and would like to read aloud some scary stories with your family this coming Halloween, try some of these eBooks from the library: Scary Stories Comp...lete Set: Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, and Scary Stories 3 by Alvin Schwartz https://sccl.bibliocommons.com/item/show/748654118 Beneath the Bed and Other Scary Stories By Max Brallier https://sccl.bibliocommons.com/item/show/785511118 The Big Book of Monsters The Creepiest Creatures from Classic Literature by Hal Johnson https://santaclara.overdrive.com/media/4581179 The House with a Clock In Its Walls Lewis Barnavelt Series, Book 1 https://santaclara.overdrive.com/media/1313378 Have a fun and safe Halloween everyone!

"Squirrels & Nuts" books we are reading today: -That Pup! By Lindsay Barrett George, Published by Greenwillow Books, an Imprint of Harper Collins Publishers -When a Tree Grows by Cathy Ballou Mealey, Illustrated by Kasia Nowowiejska, Published by Sterling Children’s Books -Shake the Tree! By Chiara Vignocchi, Illustrated by Silvia Borando, Published by Candlewick Press... Early Literacy Tip: In "That Pup" kids can look for the acorn & squirrel on each page spread. The ability to recognize visual details in a picture helps kids later when they learn to read. They will need to discriminate between the shapes of different letters, and letters like b, d, p, and q look very similar, or identify letters printed in unfamiliar fonts.
