VETNETALLY Supporting our National Veterans Day on November 11, honoring military veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces. The federal holiday coincides with Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which marks World War I. These observances reflect the end of significant hostilities at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice with Germany took effect. Initially, the United States observed Armistice Day as well. However, it evolved into the current Veterans Day in 1954 Thank a veteran and use #VeteransDay to post on social media. #CSULB #GOBEACH #VETNETALLY https://web.csulb.edu///veterans_university/awareness.html

Greetings from the College of Business (COB) where we have recently finished the most tumultuous year in the history of the university triggered by the COVID-19 crisis. We successfully completed all spring semester courses and enabled 1,525 COB students to complete degrees and graduate. I am pleased to report on exciting new things below, such as the Apostle Incubator and Enterprise Lab that is funded by a generous gift from the John and Helen Apostle Foundation and the remodeling of the large lecture halls that have been mostly untouched in their 30-year existence. Efforts to have excellent online courses in the fall semester are detailed, and much news about our faculty is also provided

The nearly 9 minutes of horror occurring on the streets of Minneapolis on May 25 is a monumental crisis that has shaken our nation to its core. Videos of George Floyd’s murder, currently alleged but clear in videos, are sad, unbelievable, inconceivable, sickening, and enraging, but seeing marches and protests evolve in a peaceful manner and include faces of all colors is hopeful. We as a nation and individually have a long way to go to ensure that such tragedies never happen ...again, and I hope that we are seeing first steps in that direction. As President Conoley said on June 1, We at the Beach are vehemently against police brutality and racial injustice. The recent deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless others have sparked protests across the nation. We fully support and stand by the black community at the Beach whose lives, health and safety are intimately impacted. As a recent Instagram post by the COB Center for Student Success indicates, The systemic injustices the Black community has experienced and continues to face are unacceptable. We must actively work together to end these injustices in areas where we hold privilege. COB is exploring ways to help our Long Beach community, and I am affirming that for COB and me personally, Black Lives Matter: We see you, We stand with you, and You matter to us. Current Students: The following survey will help faculty understand how adequate and effective the online courses are. We want to know what is going well and what needs to be modified or improved. Your responses to the COB Online Learning Experience survey are very important because you are in the middle of this switch to online instruction, and you are in the best position to tell us how we are doing. I encourage you to complete the survey by May 16, 2020 to help COB continue to provide excellent business education, no matter what the format is. CSULB Professor Explains Which Stocks to Buy During COVID-19 Still, bearish events generally allow patient investors to capture significant wealth; thus, several of my InvestorPlace colleagues urge writing a list of stocks to buy during this downturn. And according to Laura Gonzalez, associate professor of finance, California State University, Long Beach: Historically, bear markets last about two years, but this one is expected to be shorter, about a year. Central banks all around the world are working with their countries’ treasuries and executive officers to streamline stimulus packages. These packages must include support towards consumer spending beyond meeting basic needs of those that become unemployed because of the pandemic.
