#ThrowbackThursday On November 12, 2019, for the first time in #CSUB history, the university hosted a naturalization ceremony and swearing-in of 75 Valley residents. They entered CSUB's Dore Theatre as nationals of countries from around the world but left together as American citizens. The event was of even greater significance to the CSUB community, as two faculty members Drs. Aaron Hegde and Alem Kebede officially became citizens at the ceremony. #CSUB50 #RunnerPride

Recently, graduate student, Savanna Andrasian was officially able to add the ‘Dr.’ title to her name, as she received her doctoral degree from the #CSUB Doctoral Program in Education and Leadership (DPEL). It’s a pinnacle, an accomplishment that I’ve had going through school all my life. I love school, said Dr. Savanna Andrasian. CSU Chancellor’s Office awards #CSUB with two Math, Science, and Teacher Initiative (MSTI) grants of $100,000 each. The funding helps increase the number of math and science teachers. The MSTI’s goal is to recruit #STEM #teachers, and while that will continue to be the goal, there is more to it. The types of support we are able to provide our scholars is just as important to us. Every scholar admitted into our program will not only receive $1,500 a semester in financial aid, but we are also helping to defray the costs attached to the teacher credentialing process, said Jesus Esquibel, MSTI director.

Student lets art tell the story on behalf of himself and the #LGBTQ+ community. #CSUB studio art major and senior Christian Rodriguez, wasn’t aware of the many techniques and ways he could express and display his art until he took art professor, Sarah Vanderlip’s class. She has really showed me what you can do with art, and the kind of meanings it can take on, said Rodriguez. That’s pretty much where it all started, and how I got into the pieces I’m currently making. https://bit.ly/3gYeOfz #CSUB50 #RunnerPride #StudentSuccess

#Update The California State University has announced an anticipated return to primarily in-person courses for the fall 2021 term. We at #CSUB will begin the process of preparing for a resumption of campus life immediately, in partnership with faculty, students and staff. In announcing the decision, both Chancellor White and Chancellor-select Castro noted that campuses need ample time to build a framework for in-person classes after what will be several semesters of virtual delivery of instruction. It also is important that students and their families know what to expect as they enroll now for the fall semester (the deadline is Dec. 15, 2020). https://bit.ly/3n73Qqy
