Understanding the physical changes associated with aging can be difficult, especially when they’re not visible. You can’t really know what it’s like to live wit...h vision and hearing loss or the emotional impact of dealing with a loved one who has dementia if you haven’t gone through it yourself. Our Trading Ages Virtual Reality program provides a first-hand experience of these challenges. Participants gain both understanding and empathy, helping break down the stigma around aging and improve the quality of life for older adults. We’re excited to announce that we’ll be conducting an abridged version of our Trading Ages Virtual Reality experience at the upcoming TEDxCSULB event on Feb. 29. If you haven’t purchased your tickets, no problem. Tickets will be on sale at the door the day of the event. Visit the TEDxCSULB Facebook page for more info.
We have to change our perception of seniors, and one way to do that is by gaining greater insight into the aging experience. With insight comes empathy. That's... where real motivation to effect change starts." Eve Gelb, our SVP of Healthcare Services, is taking the stage at TEDxCSULB this month, speaking on a topic that’s meaningful to all of us at SCAN.
