Cross of Christ Church 13.11.2020

For the past 27 weeks, we have been meeting on Zoom. Last Sunday we gathered together for our first in person service. Shortly after church, our media team asked a few members what their favorite part of being together again was. If you joined us, what was your favorite part? If you weren’t able to make it, what are you looking forward to? Join us this Sunday at 10AM online or in person!... www.crossofchrist.com for details.

Easter Sunday looked a bit different this year. In many ways it looked a lot like the first Easter. Disciples in homes, unsure of their future, overwhelmed by fear. And yet, the tomb is still empty, Jesus is still alive and those who put their trust in him today are presented a Savior who lets them ask questions (like Thomas) who forgives their failures (like Peter) and who loves them (like John). ... He is risen, He is alive and He is good. See more

Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there. You can nail it to a cross, wrap it in winding sheets and shut it up in a tomb, but it will rise! John R.W. Stott Join us this morning at 10AM as we gather together online to celebrate Jesus resurrection. There will be a kids story for families at the beginning of the service, and we'll be singing and worshipping together throughout. We're looking forward to celebrating as a church family this weekend! ... Link in bio to join our service. See more

Followers of Jesus are called to be ambassadors of hope to a world who desperately needs it. For this reason, we adapted this resource from @thegospelcoalition to help you assess the needs in your own neighborhood and love your neighbors well. Download the flyer, print it out, then pass it out to your neighbors. In the good name of Jesus, let’s make sure every street in our community is loved and cared for. Now is the time to step into the chaos and bring hope and fait...h instead of fear. Click the link in our profile to download and print our Love Your Neighbor flyer. See more

Important coronavirus update and next steps | In light of Governor Newsom's recommendation regarding large gatherings and in coordination with other church pastors around the county and country, we'll be postponing all church gatherings (Sunday services, Discipleship Groups, social events, and classes) for two weeks, at which point we'll reevaluate. If you're a part of Realm or on our email list, we'll post a brief sermon from Pastor Nick, a worship playlist, the Kids Ministr...y lesson for parents, and a Kids worship playlist on Sunday morning. We invite you to continue actively participating with our church family in these (admittedly limited) ways. We're also developing a Crisis Care Team to respond to the practical needs of our church members and the Back Bay High School community. If you'd like to join the team or if you have any practical needs or prayer requests, please email [email protected]. Since we won't be meeting together as a church for two Sundays, would you also consider giving online? You can visit our website and click "Give" for how to do so. We continue to trust God's sovereignty and goodness during this time, and we invite you to join us in prayer - Prayer for the cessation of the virus, for all of those affected, and for the gospel to go forward in the midst of this trial. Last Sunday our friend, Dr. Alex Early, came and preached for us on Spiritual Formation. Looking at John 15:4-5, he taught us how disciples of Jesus grow through their faithful presence to God, self and others. What have you taken from Alex's sermon and applied to your life this week?

This month six couples (four married and two engaged) began our Strengthening Marriage course. During this course, the couples are looking at what God says about marriage and are learning how to implement practical tools to strengthen the marriages they have or are about to enter into. If you’re reading this post, can you take a second to pray for the couples in this class, your own marriage (or future spouse) and then text your spouse something you are thankful for in them?
