It’s difficult for many to commit to a fitness routine for more than a few months at a time. The CrossFit methodology has changed that. Double Unders: Friend or Foe? Double unders are a great metabolic conditioning movement, but require a more advanced skill set than other options like running or rowing. Once you've mastered stringing together multiple double unders at a time, it's a great way to burn some calories! Here are some tips to get you started.... Keep your hands close to your pockets - the further away from your sides, the shorter that rope becomes, and you're more likely to trip. Relax your shoulders - try not to tense up. Keep a steady breath, and avoid shrugging. Point your thumbs down to the floor Tall jumps and soft knees, pointing the toes down at the height of your jump. A jump rope is an item every CrossFitter should own, and should be personalized to every athlete's skill set and body. Get an appropriate cable weight - if you are new to double unders a speed rope is likely not the rope for you. Use a heavier cable, and gradually work towards a lighter cable weight as your skill set improves. Fit your jump rope length to your body - taking into account your height and arm span. Need a rope?
