"the right way" looks different on everyone. - In the case of the DB Floor press and these 2 photos, you'll see very different hand positions. One is a more neutral grip while the other is a more angled one. Neither is more right than the other. Move your body, not the bar. - I had a coach that used to have sayings like this. It would take me a second to wrap my head around it. I'd always ask something like, "BUT YOU STILL MOVE THE BARBELL?". His response was the same as the statement above, MOVE YOUR BODY. - We want be able to create a BETTER AWARENESS around how we move. Instead of just picking up the weight, try and understand what muscles you are using to do so. It might not always be right, but that's a step... in the right direction. Too often I hear athletes say, "I don't know what I'm feeling". We need to feel something, good or bad. - It's time to elevate our training. Embrace the pain, be present with it. The workout is gonna suck regardless of what you do anyway. So settle in and shift your focus to wanting to be there. The point isn't to displace the suffering, ignore it and endure the workout. THE POINT is to be aware of your feeling (good or bad) & the discomfort and ATTACK IT. Hunt the the fight, instead of waiting for the fight to come to you. It's going to hard and challenge you physically & mentally, but that's what CROSSFIT is ALL ABOUT. NOW is the time to start focusing on building healthy habits. So much time is spent on what we're supposed remove and restrict from diets. So much focus on what we are NOT supposed to do. How about FOCUSING on what you should be doing and what you have the ability to control. Like being more active or working working out more days than you don't, eating more nutrient dense foods, making "healthy" meals you enjoy, being more present, learning a new skill, connecting with o...thers. There so many POSITIVE things that will help us get closer to our end goal that we never think to focus our energy on. Instead focus on what not to do and are miserable because of it (failed diets - wink wink ). Anyone can give up anything for 30 days. What matters is the 30 days after that. - Start thinking of something you can add to your current routine that you already aren't doing that will move you closer to where you want to be.
