WHAT ARE DOUBLE UNDERS? Double-unders, or dubs, as they are also known, is a way of jumping rope but instead of the rope passing under the feet once for each jump, it passes under twice. HOW TO DO DOUBLE UNDERS ... 1 Without a rope start by practicing jumping on the balls of your feet with a tight, straight midline and neutral spine. 2 Now, grab the rope. Hit some single-unders. Reminder elbows should be at your sides and hands at a 45-degree angle to your body. Keep your shoulders back with a tall chest and your upper body and arms relaxed. 3 It’s time to turn up the speed of the rope, not the jump and hit some dubs! Start off with hitting a single, single, single then double attempt. Once that’s solid, attempt a single, single then double. Another Classic Benchmark coming your way today! We have Isabel: 30 Power Snatches for time. This is meant to be short and fast! We want to see most athletes aiming to stay around the 5:00 mark. Athletes have a few different strategies they can pick today. ... First athletes can get after the biggest set possible unbroken and then chip away at what’s left. Another strategy is breaking it down into a descending ladder rep scheme (i.e. 8+7+6+5+4). They can also keep their sets into quick 2-3 reps. For some quick singles the whole workout may be the way to go. Our Miramar Member of the Month for November is Laura! Laura challenges herself mentally and physically with every workout, every day. She comes in with a positive attitude and ready to put in work. From day one she has trusted the process and has never once gotten discouraged. She doesn’t realize her own strength, and oftentimes surprises herself on what her body can do. Get ready to put those legs to work; we’re going to blast them with Front Squats! Below are a couple tips that will make standing up from the Front Squats a lot easier and less fatiguing. These tips focus mainly on the Elbows and Torso. First, Elbows should be high and actively pushing up to keep the barbell high on the shoulders.... Next, aim to keep the Torso vertical. A vertical Torso will keep the bar from rolling off and make the work for the elbows much easier.
