CRLA Foundation stands firmly against the administration's threats and its attempts to intimidate our immigrant community. It is important to remember that the U.S. Constitution guarantees certain rights for everyone, regardless of immigration status. These rights include the right to remain silent and not answer questions from the police or immigration authorities, the right to deny law enforcement from entering one's home without permission, and the right to speak with an ...attorney if detained by the police or immigration authorities. Community members should seek a consultation with an immigration attorney to discuss their specific immigration situation and any options or issues they should be aware of, especially if they have a prior deportation order or other previous contact with immigration authorities. We want to take this opportunity to offer a reminder about the services and resources available to Northern California residents. There are several 24/7 hotlines in the region to report immigration enforcement activities. In Sacramento, Yolo, and Placer counties, please call the Sacramento Rapid Response Network at (916) 245-6773. In Kern, Fresno, Merced, Stanislaus, and San Joaquin counties, please call the Valley Watch Network at (559) 206-0151. Individuals should call these hotlines if they are either (1) witnessing active ICE enforcement or (2) seeking emergency legal services for someone who was recently apprehended by ICE. CRLA Foundation is committed to protecting immigrant families. By understanding our legal rights, utilizing our local resources and services, and standing together as a community in support of immigrants, we can respond to ICE's intimidation tactics with power, not panic.
