Hey we go again!! So I’m in deep planning mode. Carefully creating a plan. Staying patient. Calculating my moves. Fighting to urge to even cautiously move, while staying ready (Suga Free for those that know) But success waits for no one. I didn’t have time to plan. I always just did to be productive, to not get caught up in analysis paralysis or not move fast. I didn’t want success to leave me behind. ... Welp... All that production was simply me spinning in circles. I got humbled (and dizzy with confusing) to the point I had to sit down. And. Now. I. See... Focused energy has more results. Fast forward to today. Beginning with the end in mind, my focus is rooted in pointing my energy at the problem instead of engulfing it. This takes preparation. And in doing so I finish the plan rather than planning to finish. So if YOU want to start, better yet COMPLETE, plan what happens next before you get there, and you’ll arrive all-ready. So in the journey of life, we find out that the energy we put out in the universe is what we get back. But what about all the times we do good, are selfless, give it all we have, yet still receive negative energy in return?!? Perhaps it’s was never about what we did, or the results, good and bad; maybe it was the reality we create in our heads when everything is silent and no one is around... When we recognize that energy is mental and not physical, we allow ourselves the choice to fuel that energy with positive or negative thoughts. Knowing our choices become our future, and if we do what we say, understand we speak our truths to reality!! I’ve been a tinkerer since I can remember I want to learn as much as I can about everything I encounter I always sought information from those who knew But I still wanted to do so much... Yet I didn’t have access to experts And add to that I still didn’t know what I didn’t know Along came the Internet Woa. Then I was handed a project larger than my experience I wasn’t taught HOW to use the PMBOK, only WHAT to pass the exam I worried I wouldn’t live up to the PMP behind my name After Construction, IT, Non-Profit, Gov, and Soft Dev, I landed a role in Prod Dev I realized all aspects of the PMBOK were used from idea to commercialization, even in an Agile world Because I was forced to learn HOW on the job, I kept notes about the WHY Fast forward to today, I teach Project Management & recognize our Industry’s need to go Beyond the Certification if we want to be more valuable PMs I teach HOW and WHY to all my students, going beyond the WHAT, to simply pass exams My past students said they became better project managers because of this After exchanging knowledge with thousands of Professionals, I recently achieved PMI’s Authorized Training Partner badge I am happy to report PMI is trying to get instructors to do just that - go BEYOND THE CERT while teaching.
