Its Therapist Thursday! Today we’re highlighting one of our OTs, Dalya! She’s been with us since 2017. Dalya Heller, MS, OTR/L, was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington (in Seattle) in Medical Anthropology and Global Health and her Masters in Occupational Therapy (OT) from Washington University in St. Louis. ... Dalya decided to pursue Occupational Therapy after many years of working in the adaptive recreation field and being a caretaker for two families with children who had special needs. She has clinical experiences in pediatrics and in adult inpatient rehabilitation. Dalya has completed level 1 mentorship program through the STAR Center. When not working, you can find her exploring the outdoors, eating delicious food, and spending time with her family. We love having you as a part of our team, Dalya! See more

Today for #FridayFeature we’re featuring some of our favorite Regulation tools that we use in the clinic! The Alert Program, also known as How does your engine run? helps children identify their level of arousal, or alertness, by using a car engine analogy. And the Zones of Regulation helps children identify their Regulation by categorizing it into zones.... Both programs then allow children to identify tools that support them where they are in order to bring them back to an arousal level appropriate for the situation. Some children respond better to the Alert program, some respond better to the Zones, so we love having both options available!
