Congratulations on a resounding win last night! We won by more than 1,000,000 votes. California has spoken!
California’s State Constitution guarantees people accused of a crime the right to choose bail Prop 25 would totally eliminate that right and choice. It will force counties to create a new bureaucracy to determine who will and will not get released from jail pending trial.

Prop. 25 would not help the San Francisco man who is the face of bail reform By Susan Fisher Oct. 12, 2020 Robbery defendant Kenneth Humphrey listens to judge Brendan P. Conroy as he discusses restrictions of his release in May 2018 in San Francisco.... San Francisco can be considered the birthplace of California’s bail reform movement thanks to the case of Kenneth Humphrey. Humphrey was arrested in 2017 and charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors after allegedly robbing and threatening a 79-year-old man. When Humphrey was unable to secure his release, he later sued, arguing that California’s current bail system is discriminatory, which ultimately set in motion the passage of a new state law eliminating bail. That law now goes before voters this election for final approval in the form of Proposition 25. Ironically, Humphrey would not be released from jail if Proposition 25 was in place, yet he is featured in a recent TV commercial from Prop. 25’s proponents. What Californians must weigh when deciding on Prop. 25 is whether it improves fairness in our criminal justice system. The answer is overwhelmingly no, and that’s why voters must reject it.
Prop 25 will be even more discriminatory against African-Americans, Latinos and other minoritiesusing these profiling methods to decide who gets released from jailhas been proven to hurt communities of color. Alice Huffman, President, California State Conference of the NAACP.
California State Constitution guarantees all citizens the right to Bail! VOTE NO ON PROP 25
With bail agents eliminated, the responsibility for ensuring defendants show up for trial would be shifted to already strapped counties there is no accountability for defendants to return to court.
No Fair this year! Stay safe!
