How do you explain your profession? Have you ever wondered what a real estate agent actually does? Doesn’t a REALTOR just open doors and show houses? Or are they the ones to put the sign in the yard? Why is real estate so confusing? ... When I meet with clients to price their home, I often use the analogy that I’m pricing is part art and part science. For a remodeled condominium in a large complex - it’s 80% science. For a cabin in the woods mostly art! What I really mean to say is that it’s a gut instinct based on market feedback. Real Estate is 100% art and science. We only know the ratios in the end. After 18 years in this profession and a compilation of people and experiences, it’s still quite hard to explain the job of a REALTOR. Each day is new and different and is a reflection of unique lessons learned. All of these unique lessons are designed and geared to benefit the client and future transactions - for which there will be a new and different challenge! If you are a REALTOR, plan to be humble and always learn from your mistakes. If you are a buyer or seller, plan to never quite understand the job of your REALTOR. It’s OK!
