Saliva is a key factor to helping prevent tooth decay! By cleaning the teeth naturally, it washes away food particles that are left on your teeth. It also helps in keeping your gums healthy and protecting them against gum disease. Saliva contains antimicrobial agents which help fight off bad bacteria that fuels cavities. Hence why, people who suffer from dry mouth are prone to teeth decay. There are mouth rinses that you can buy to help with dry mouth. Also, fluoride application is recommended to be done every 6 months for everyone whether or not you have dry mouth. Next time you come in, please don't hesitate to ask us any questions you might have on this or any other dental needs.

Why should you be changing your toothbrush every 3 months? Did you know that your toothbrush is your first line of defense against bacterias that can cause gum disease, tooth decay, and bad breath? Unfortunately, toothbrushes do not last forever. When the bristles on your brush start to wear down, this is a sign to replace your toothbrush. Over time, your toothbrush will become less effective in removing plaque build up on your teeth thus causing more bacteria build up which ...leads to gum infections. Another reason to replace your brush sooner would be if you were sick, or your toothbrush touched the surface other than your mouth, or if someone other than you uses your brush by mistake. It is recommended to store your brush in the upright position on a dry non-contaminated area. If you are storing your toothbrush next to others, be sure the bristles are not touching. See more

The best kinds of sweets are those that wash off quickly. Chocolate is among the lesser of sweet evils. The stickier stuff, such as lollipops and caramels, are less teeth-friendly. #dental #dentistry #dentist #candy #teeth #wellness #health #chocolate #sweettooth

Green and black teas contain polyphenols that protect against plaque bacteria. Killing or neutralizing the bacteria will inhibit them from growing and making acids that attack teeth. Bonus if your water has fluoride! #dental #tea #teeth #health #wellness

Fiber-rich fruits/veggies and dairy products (like cheese, milk, and yogurt) make your teeth happy by promoting saliva production. Saliva protects your teeth from bacteria and contains calcium and phosphate to restore tooth minerals. #healthfacts #wellness #health #teeth #food #healthyfood #healthfood #dentalfacts

Saliva is the mouth’s first line of defense. Your saliva contains antimicrobial agents that kill disease-causing bacteria. As saliva moves through your mouth, it also washes away small bits of food and acidic residue that can break down teeth enamel. What happens when you don’t have enough saliva? It’s a condition called xerostomia, which can make it easier for gum disease and tooth decay to happen. #dental #wellness #health #teeth #funfacts #dentalfacts
