Campus is closed Monday, January 18th in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968) was a leader in the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s. Inspired by Gandhi, Dr. King used powerful speeches and other non-violent tactics in the struggle to achieve equal rights for African-Americans. He is portrayed in his ministerial robes, holding a child to symbolize innocence and concern for future generations. Dr. King’s statue was unveiled on January 18, 1998. It’s #nationaluglychristmassweaterday!So let’s see those ugly Christmas sweaters, although most are adorable! Since 2011, the recognition of some of Christma...s's ugliest fashion has been celebrated on the third Friday of December. The day is meant to "lighten up the the busy holidays and to show off their absurdly, ugly sweaters," according to the National Day Calendar. Here are a couple from our college. Please note the group photo was taken last year but we miss seeing our faculty celebrating together and can’t wait to be able to do so again!
