Why is Oceano Dunes SVRA still closed? The latest excuse that we have been offered is that there is deferred maintenance that must be completed and could not begin until October 1st. Oh, and State Parks (SP) have so many new appointees that need to get up to speed. Clearly SP is testing our resolve. Every one of us has access to a calendar and every one of us has begun a new job at some point in our lives. We anticipate (and pay for), a partnership from State Parks in the ...operation and access to our SVRA's. It is incumbent on SP to fight on our behalf to ensure access to and protect our parks, just as our Governor did when vetoing the AB 1086. If this is not something our State Parks Department intends to do, today, for Oceano Dunes SVRA, we demand to be given notice of that fact and a reasonnot an excuse. We understood that the park would need to close in March, as did all State Parks, due to Covid 19. All other SVRA’s are open now. All public health requirements for this SLO county have been met and the "cease and desist order has expired. We realize that we have newly appointed staff that the Superintendent is still acting and is not perhaps incented to fight for this park. We know that OHV is not regarded highly by the powerful environmental community. We get that this fight is uncomfortable and unlikely to win the hearts and minds of your most influential supporters. But our community counts. The small businesses dependent on our patronage count. We pay our own way, willingly comply with state environmental standards and deserve to have full access to our park like every other Californian. Now. Diana Mead, CORVA Past President

Thank you for the update @circle_l_overland Looks like another week of closures for the 9 forests that were extended last week. Remember to check the forest specific page or facebook page for the forest you want updated info on. It’s a bummer for sure but we support these closures given the circumstances with the heat and fires. Let’s give our firefighters all the room they need to battle these blazes

CORVA ALERT Forest Service Temporarily Closes All National Forests in California. Effective at 5:00pm this evening, the Regional Forester, Randy Moore, has ordered all forests in California Closed. This is an additional 10 to the 8 already closed on Monday afternoon. Please steer clear of forest roads and highways to allow access for our first responders. Please keep all of these hero's and their safety in your thoughts and prayers. VALLEJO, Calif., September 9, 2020 ...Due to unprecedented and historic fire conditions throughout the state, the USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region is announcing a temporary closure of an additional ten National Forests, meaning all eighteen National Forests in California are now closed. The closure of the additional ten forests will be effective at 5:00 pm today. These additional forests include the Eldorado National Forest, Klamath National Forest, Lassen National Forest, Mendocino National Forest, Modoc National Forest, Six Rivers National Forest, Plumas National Forest, Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Tahoe National Forest, and Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. This decision will be re-evaluated daily as conditions change. We had closed eight National Forests on Monday evening, Sept. 7, 2020. Explosive growth of fires throughout California during the day and late evening of Sept. 8th led to this updated decision. The number of large fires and extreme fire behavior we are seeing across the State is historic," said Regional Forester Randy Moore. "These temporary closures are necessary to protect the public and our firefighters, and we will keep them in place until conditions improve and we are confident that National Forest visitors can recreate safely. I ask all Californians and visitors to take these closures and evacuations seriously for their own safety and to allow our firefighters to focus on the mission of safely suppressing these fires ."

Here’s a nice letter from the CA State Off Highway Motor Vehicle Commission (OHMVR) @castateparksohv penned by its Vice Chair Patricia Urena. Sorry for the second page hack job but in a nutshell the OHMVR Commission is challenging the APCD to prove they didn't violate the Stipulated Order of Abatement by demanding the closure of the 48 acres that was done outside of the conditions agreed to in the order. They are also questioning the quality and accuracy of the data from the... Scientific Advisory Group, and basically claiming all the conclusions reached by the APCD because of the data presented by the Science Advisory Group lack any scientific evidence of fact. She is 100% correct and we want to thank the commission for sending this letter and challenging the corruption and BLATANT anti OHV bias perpetrated by the CCC and APCD. They continue to force State Parks to waste MILLIONS of YOUR funds on endless dust monitoring all the while just cherry picking whatever data is compiled by THEIR bought and paid for SAG (Scientific Advisory Group) and IGNORE real data like what was submitted by the Scripps dust study, to falsely reinforce their narrative. That narrative is that the #offroadcommunity that enjoys Pismo are all eco terrorists, solely to blame for false claims that blowing sand stirred up by OHV is causing respiratory issues to residents who purchased homes INLAND from an area where naturally occurring everyday winds naturally blow dust and sand particulates INLAND (rocket science 101) and OHV must stop forever at CAs first and most iconic #svra Thank you Commission for standing up for real facts and science and for the millions of Californians who love OHV. And once again you won’t find posts like this on the account that’s supposed to be about OHV specifically for SVRA at Oceano Dunes... @oceanodunessvra hard working OHV loving Californians continue to pay sky high vehicle registration costs that fund this location and why?... to continue to keep getting banned from enjoying it!? #noohvnoohvdollars #saveoceanodunes #oceanodunessvra #corva #ohmvr #protectingthelandforthepeoplenotfromthepeople #nooverlandwithoutpublicland See more

Evelyn Delaney thinks the #offroadcommunity is filled with drug addicts and rapists and that #OHV should be ended.... her words not ours you can read the link in our bio that @santa_maria_times published. We respectfully disagree with Evelyn on so many levels. Her opinion doesn’t surprise us we’ve been fighting against rhetoric like this for 50 years. And really? #santamariatimes this article passes through your editor? Imagine if Evelyn made such inflammatory and rac...ist claims toward ANY other community!? We have no problem with the #firstammendment but we feel this sort of speech is beyond biased and is bigoted and should not have been allowed to be published. Evelyn apparently forgets off Roaders comprise every race, gender and socio-economic range there is. Bigger picture. There’s a lot of Evelyns out there.... and a lot of them are in positions of power in your town, county and our state and are even present within some agencies that govern OHV in this state....thank you @conservative805 for the heads up. Join us and help us begin to change this demonizing and hateful narrative Do NOT direct any hateful responses toward this paper. Dissent on both sides is healthy and we believe this article should have been rejected on the spot but that’s the way it goes. Don’t lower yourself to Evelyns level. Our community loves, respects and conserves our public lands and we will continue to do so. Go to this papers website and leave a comment and keep it respectful. #isupportoffroadrecreation #corva #evelynisthenewKaren See more
